Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Toolguy Just as good as the first generation 18volt
About 14 years ago I got the 4 pack 18volt heavy duty set. I use them almost daily and replaced a few batteries and just got a new one. But I recently got the m18 radio and loved it and knowing I have had the other tools for some time I went ahead and got the m18 (6 tool) and love it. The drill is lighter, smaller, and has a light. I'm happy with its over all power but the old drill has a little more torque. The sawzall has a better blade release but I liked how the old one folded and the battery could be put on two ways. Would buy again!

we have used allot of battery powered tools in the past and they did not stand up to Milwaukee M18 18-volt Lithium-ion cordless tools, complete full charge in the morning and they last almost a regular 8 hr. work day.

Some plastic parts inside the small impact broke the first time I used it. The rest of the tools seem fine so far.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Carpenter500 Certainly worth the investment!
I bought this cordless set a month ago, but I have been using it for years because my employer owns it and shares it with me. I finally invested in my own set, and it is well worth the investment!
Overall, I would say that the only CON of this set is that it didn't include the jigsaw, but rather came with the grinder. However, this does not disappoint me, because my employer did not have the grinder yet, so I am sure it will come in handy from time to time. The grinder has a sweet feature on the guard (in fact 2 types of guards to choose from) which lets you adjust it out of your way to multiple positions with the simple click of a button. No need to pull things apart to remove the guard.....just click the button and pivot the guard to a position that is workable. This is a great time saver. Also, I still bought the jigsaw as a bare tool for an extra $100, so now I have everything I need.
In my professional opinion, all of these cordless tools in this set are very reliable, rugged, and capable of performing regularly for many years as they should. Obviously, the tools that require blades will last longer if you don't bind the blades, and put in new blades regularly so that they cut without putting unnecessary strain on the tool. Also the batteries are great, and last a longer time if you swap them out before they get to the lowest bar.......which is one of the greatest features of this set, because you simple press a button on the battery and it will tell you how much power you have left from 1 to 4 bars (4 being fully charged), and this is very convenient if you are up on a roof or ladder or whatever and don't want to be carrying dying batteries to do your job! The circular saw is very handy for just about any job, and I find myself using it for a variety of jobs such as siding jobs, sheathing, trim repairs, roof repairs, and many other jobs. It doesn't struggle to keep up with the demand, and if the job is too big (like cutting 6x6's or multiple stringers or whatever) then I just grab a corded saw. The reciprocating saw is extremely rugged, takes a lot of abuse, and yet keeps on performing great! It handles just about anything, but once again if the job is too big and you know you've got hours and hours of sawzalling ahead of you, then just switch to a corded one so that it doesn't overheat. The drills are fantastic, lightweight, and reliable. There hasn't been any screw either of them wouldn't turn on a residential jobsite, and once again using common sense, if the job demand is bigger (like drilling a bunch of concrete holes, or using a 4 inch hole saw, etc) then just switch to a corded one and you will be sure to have your cordless tools last that much longer! Finally to top it off, it's nice to have a flashlight handy, and it is super convenient that it works on the same batteries as all the other tools that you use day to day on the jobsite.
To summarize, all of these tools in this set are very reliable, durable, and super convenient to have on a jobsite, but just use a handful of common sense so that they last for years longer and don't wear out on jobs that they are not really made for. Corded tools still have their place on the jobsite, but I can assure you that if you have a cordless set like this one, you won't be needing them very often.
