Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PianoManNH Great duo and an extra battery!
I was surprised to see that the hammer drill had three switchable functions: Drill, screw and hammer so it's extremely versatile. The impact driver, which I thought I would use only for lug nuts, drives 3" screws and lag bolts like nothing. (I wish I had this when I built my backyard deck!) I was working outside in a bit of rain a while back with my five-year-old Milwaukee and the next day, I noticed that I had to bang it to get it to spin. Well, the kicker is that the extra battery that came with this duo not only fit my old one, but the powerful battery got my old drill to run like new! I am extremely happy with the quality and the price paid for this combo and I highly recommend it.

Ordered the combo offline due to free battery. Hammer drill actually worked better than I thought it would, way better. The impact has more than enough torque. I was using it to put in 2 and 1/2 inch pocket screws on a oak table top I was working on and wasn't even a challenge.

I bought this set because of two things, the bigger batteries and the free battery. I wanted Milwaukee all along as I like their platform and with the larger and free battery I'm well on my way to having a better setup to expand upon. That being said I really have no interest in the hammer drill as I'm never going through concrete. After getting it I wanted to try it out, and wow, I'm glad I did. Any stubborn board is made short work with it and the impact is just as you expect, awesome. It's a bit heavy but not unbearingly so. For household jobs once in a bit, maybe the 1.5ah would do, but we're guys. We need big batteries and big toys, go big and get this. I'm now getting the radio and sawzall with no worry about it dying after only a few cuts. My only complaint is wanting a case instead of a bag, but i'll be getting one anyways. All in all, more than I wanted but glad I went big and got more than I needed. You never know when you'll need it, don't have it and then be kicking yourself in the butt.

Originally I had been looking for a new drill driver online, but saw this combo set with the extra battery and said, why not? Everyone could use more tools. I had originally been back and forth between this and the Makita set, but I'm glad I bought this one.
The hammer drill has 3 settings: Drill, Driver, or Hammer Driver which can easily be adjusted by a bezel above the chuck. This is definitely a multipurpose tool that will get the job done under any circumstances. To me, the drill is weighted very well and I like the over molded grip on both pieces. However, I think I'm going to try one of the M18 slim battery packs just to see how that affects the weight. If you're using it for lighter applications such as cabinetry or woodwork, the large battery might not be necessary.
The impact driver is definitely the piece de resistance. When I pulled it out of the box, it just looked too small to have any power. I was wrong there. I put a few 3 inch lags through some old 6x6 posts I had laying around like it was nothing. It really was impressive.
Because I have the 3 battery set, I have only charged these up once. Give them 30 minutes on the charger and they're good to go.
Overall, Milwaukee really hit it out of the park with this set. Lots of power, great design, quick battery charges and a nice little carry bag that will also fit a few bit sets as well. Can't go wrong with a great product that is built in the USA.

Had great power to start off with when new, ran forever (I think that the Ah rating may have been understated). However, after about 3 months use, in the same conditions as the other 4 regular (li-ion) batteries i own, it has half the life, and doesn't want to recharge, but will if left on the charger long enough, about 5 or 6 hours. The others, some of which are over a year old, have no memory and continue to run as new. I may have gotten a bad apple, but it seems suspicious to me that the only battery in 5 to have problems is that one, and brand new as well.

This is the by far the best tools you will ever use. The guys at my job ask if I have stock in Milwaukee. I made them by all the 18v tools you sell and got rid of the Dewalt. Now we are buying seconds of everything because guys are fighting over who has the cordless versus the corded. We fix the large container cranes for the largest shipping company in the world and these tools have taken alot of the effort we put in out.
