This battery works just fine. In fact, it's the type of battery I used for it's first round of use. The problem isn't the power, it's the charge life of the smaller batteries. Answer:
Well, it can be done. but you need a sharp blade and a lot of patience. Take it slow and don't bind the blade. It might be easier, especially on a straight cut, to use a circular saw with a clamped guide. just a thought. :)

Answer:
Yes, the M18 Jig Saw (2645) will easily cut through 3/4” OSB. A few things will effect speed.
1. Orbital Action or Straight Cutting: The saw has an adjustment for orbital or straight cut. Orbital will cut wood faster but will leave a rough finish.
2. Blade Choice: A high tooth count blade will leave a cleaner cut but slow down the saw. A low tooth count blade will cut faster but leave a rough cut.

LED-light?

This question is from M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Jig Saw (Tool-Only)
May 3, 2016
I see an older question regarding work-light on this jigsaw with a negative answer, from "Milwaukee electronics". Milwaukee states on their own site that this saw comes with a Led-light. Is the old information above still valid?

M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Jig Saw (Tool-Only) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 60.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cuts like butter Heavier than competitor, but that is a sign of quality guts and it did help absorb vibration well. Cut like butter with Bosch blades. Variable speed is great. I do wish there was blower and a light. I ended up taking off the splinter guard and the plastic guard around the blade and blowing with my mouth often so so I could see the cut.

I can only compare this jig saw to the 18v 10 year old Bosch I burned up 2 months ago. That Jig saw worked well and flawlessly thru much service. I jumped to the Milwaukee because I was invested into the battery system. I like the battery system simply because each battery has a gauge and charges faster than the Bosch (but it is 10 yrs old) . This saw comes with all the adjustments that the Bosch has but is slightly heavier. It also presented a slight problem (perhaps I'm just not used to it) of mounting the blade. Once past that I found the tool to work quite well.

DO NOT BUY THIS JIG SAW Hello I Am A Contractor And Buy Many Tools I Am Very Pleased With All Milwaukee M18 Tools EXCEPT This Jig Saw Cons= 1.No Light 2. Plastic Blade Guard Must Be Removed To See What Your Cutting 3. Only Uses More Expensive Blades (T-Type Blade) At The End Of The Day This Jig Saw Is Very Durable And Of Good Quality BUT Milwaukee MUST Fix Blade Visibility To Make This A Better Tool Until They Do DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite jigsaw This is the last saw I will will have to buy. This saw gives me flashbacks of my grandfather's black and decker saw meaning all metal and completely cordless,"If your over 40 you know the feeling" nobody else makes heavy-duty tools especially at this price. Milwaukee you outdone yourself. Keep up the great work .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beast of a jigsaw i am a professional carpenter and use this jigsaw all the time from light framing to fine trim work. when the jigsaw is paired with a 5.0ah battery i can use it for days. once you get used to the weight of the saw you can use it for things as delicate as coping cuts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from unfortunately had to return! This is a great jig saw, but I had to return it because I need a led light to cut dark woods when installing cabinets. I will buy again when they put in a LED light like most of their cordless tools. I have the 18v drills and 12v drills and love them. My idea was to have all Milwaukee tools, but I need to see what I'm doing. I did however give it 4 stars for ruggedness, ease of use, scratch guard, and look. Hopefully the boss will read this and make this tool perfect!
