Customer Questions & Answers

can the handle be removed?

black handle perpendicular to drill.
Asked by: subieguy90
Yes. In fact there is a little bit of work involved in attaching the handle. In situations where there is a reasonable expectation that the drill will bind up during use the side handle is a highly suggested option since the torque can easily hurt you when the drill spins up out of your hand.

Hi is it a hammer drill as well...Thanks

Asked by: Anonymous
No. Drill / Drivers are Drills and Can be used as Adjustable Torque Screwdrivers. If you wish a Hammer Drill Milwaukee seels them and lists them as Hammer Drill / Drivers. You Trade torque for the Hammer ability.

Fuel Hammer drill vs. Fuel drill driver

I'm torn between the fuel hammer drill/driver with impact driver combo or the fuel drill/driver with impact driver combo. I'll be doing a large demo, remodel, and general carpentry all spring to fall. No real cement work.
Asked by: alaska45
In my experience with every other Hammer Drill combination including Milwakee both Corded and Uncorded (I own them) Hammer Drills run less money but are, in fact a compromise. They don't tend to be very good "Hammers" and they don't tend to be very good "Drills" I look for a lot of overall torque and guts in a Drill and Milwaukee Drill/Drivers have answered superbly in every way. Their hammer drills are kind of "Ehhh!" ... This tends to be true however regardless of whose you buy. If you're going to do a lot of "Hammering" I suggest a Rotary Hammer (even a small one)

M18 FUEL 18-Volt Brushless 1/2 in. Drill/Driver XC Battery Kit is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Tool This tool is great for the price! I have been using it for drilling through hard woods like oak. It drills without a single snag, the driving mode is great for driving screws in, i drove 3" wood screws through oak plywood into boards for a project ive been working on, and it performed flawlessly. Especially when using the nice milwaukee bits. Steady, consistant power without bouncing around in the screw and without stripping the bit. I also used it for putting up a fence and i screwed in approximately 1200 screws through the planks into 4x4s and only used about 1/2 the battery. It does not bog down as it gets low on juice either. Highly recommend this drill

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cordless drill ice auger I'm an ice fisherman and drilling holes in the ice manually was getting a bit too much. There have been a number of articles recommending adapting the Milwaukee ½ cordless drill with 4Ah ion batteries to a standard ice auger.....mine is a 6" Strike Master, Mora. I've had it out on the ice twice and both times, I've drilled 40+ 6" holes, 10 to 14" ice, at 20F .....On one battery! My only complaint was the T handle. The groove in the frame appeared to have crack and a piece of it fell off. Consequently, the T handle kept falling off. I returned it to the store and they replaced it. I have not read any review with this problem. I'm hoping, this was a random defect and not a design defect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five star I've had this tool for about a year now. Reliability, performance, and feel are all excellent. The battery life has been well beyond my expectations and recharging with the included charger is acceptably fast. I can't comment yet on the longevity of the brushless motor, after a year it's still perfect. This tool has about the best keyless chuck I've ever used outside a machine shop and it holds well against the very powerful output. I'm totally pleased and satisfied with all aspects of this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Powerful, Long Running Drill! I use this every day. I live in Maine, and it can get cold here. I was very disappointed with several V28 batteries in the past, as they would not hold a charge, and could not be used in cold weather. So I was cautious about this drill's batteries. But I am very pleased with this drill! I keep it in the truck, and it works, cold weather or not. On another note, to me, run time is king, and I'm finding that this drill's run time seems to go on forever! Yes!!! : ) Belt hook is only a couple dollars; I ordered it online! And finally, although the case has no room for a drill index, I just cut an opening in it to fit them, so it works just fine!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from M18 2603-22 This is an amazing tool. However there are some practical limitations on driving large lag screws. Basically the tool will put out 725 inch pounds intrinsically of torque. However the clutch as many steps, but the largest step is about 90 inch pounds. Thus from 100 inch pounds to 725 inch pounds you have No torque limit with this tool. You need to rely on visual care and estimates of your wrists. It is understandable why they made this choice in the design of the product. A ball index clutch and a high-quality clutch will be very large for over 100 inch pounds much less 725 inch pounds. The only other alternative for them is a current limit on the motor. This of course will be less accurate than the mechanical clutch and additionally this will change minute to minute. As important the inertia of the motor after being seen through the reducing your box will cause over travel and even higher ending jerk torque. But still some torque control should be added in this torque region. It is very easy to twist off the shaft of a 3/8 inch lag bolt with the tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goes through concrete like butter. This new "Fuel" drill was more than I wanted to spend, but you get what you pay for. This drill has the quality and performace I would expect from a Milwaukee product.
