I got the rotary hammer as a Christmas present for my fiance, he cant wait to open and use it. He has been talking about how great of a tool this is and how powerful it is. Now I had to exchange it for the battery powered one because he doesn't always have access to plugs but I will come back on and review it after Christmas for a full review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The power of a corded While not being an everyday tool for me as a residential electrical contractor, like it would be for someone in the commercial or industrial sector, an SDS rotary hammer is something I use fairly often. My primary use is drilling for concrete anchors and Tapcons. I've always used a corded SDS-Plus rotary hammer with the same form factor as this new Fuel model here. Offering just about the same amount of impact energy as my corded one, yet with all the freedom a cordless provides, this has already taken its place in my truck. Since getting it recently, I've used it in both our rather hard concrete - full of lots of stone aggregate - and for some drilling in granite. It was blistering fast at holes in the 1/4" - 1/2" range in both materials. 1-inch holes in granite weren't quite as fast, obviously, but still on par with my corded. The fit and finish on this contractor-grade tool is excellent, as one can expect from Milwaukee. Like pretty much all of the tools in the M12 and M18 lines, its backed by their 5-year warranty. I use my Milwaukee cordless stuff heavily all day, every day professionally, and have yet to have a single issue with any of it. Good stuff, and highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Power This is the first battery operated tool I own with this kind of power - very impressive. I drilled about 20 1/16 holes in my concrete patio and it was a breeze. The drill is a bit on the heavy side. The drill has 3 modes - drill only, rotary hammer and hammer only function. Great functionality. I think this drill is a great addition to the tool shed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very serious tool! This is an extremely powerful tool. You get the bare machine (no battery) and all you have to do is attach the side handle and depth gauge. Push in an M18 battery and insert whatever bit you need (SDS or SDS+) and don’t forget some safety goggles. The settings are: pure rotary drill, rotary with hammer and just hammer mode. There is a mode selection position that allows you to rotate the bit so that it has the desired orientation when using pure hammer mode. The switch is is simple and is marked with clear embossed symbols. Bit insertion is easy, push and turn until it clicks into place. To remove a bit one simply pulls the collar back and it is released. My first test was on a sheet of granite counter top I had lying around. As soon as the hammer kicked in, the bit just sank into the material much faster than I expected and it blew out a big hole on the other side of the counter top! Impressive to say the least. Did I mention safety goggles? The depth gauge is very good when drilling into concrete as the hole can get drilled so fast it can be easy to go in too far. I intend using this to break up an old concrete walkway with a chisel bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot of power So far all I've used it for is drilling about 100 1/4" holes. It's very powerful. It's great that you can turn off the drilling function if you need too. Its a little heavy, which helps when you want to do some chipping. If you need the power it definitely has it.
