Customer Questions & Answers

Does this model allow me to switch between the hammer and a regular drill function?

Asked by: bags
Yes, there is a three mode rotary switch for "dill," hammer drill," and "driving screws"

Is the only difference in the Milw fuel 2604-22 and 2604-22ct the batteries and therefor the performance due to a larger/smaller battery?

In other words they are the same drill body? They do not have it in stock and the milw sales rep at home depot never heard of the 2604-ct model.
Asked by: Anonymous
That appears to be the only difference. The smaller battery results in slightly less peak torque and obviously a shorter time between chrarges. The advantage is lighter weight.

M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless 1/2 in. Hammer Drill/Driver Compact Battery Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Drill Love the power and the light. Also find the charge on the battery packs last for months when not in use. Many rechargeable batteries die between uses which is really annoying. Drill helped build attached table.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money, lots of power This hammer drill has tons of power! Amazing run time never seen anything like it. Milwaukee did an awesome job on this tool. It is well balanced and easy to control. The grip is comfortable and the controls are easy to use. The hard case is tough and easy to store tools in. For a cordless tool it has lots of torque. The side handle is nice for high torque applications so I won't hurt my wrist. I have not dropped it yet but but it feels like it will hold up. I got this this with a third battery which is a bonus because I have the M18 fuel impact and M18 circular saw. Anyway, would definitly buy this tool again. Cannot wait till M12 fuel comes out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from M18 2.0mah hammer drill Very 1st thing I did with this drill is drill several 11/18" holes with an Irwin self feed bit in 2x4s on low tq setting. Very impressed the with power from the brushless motor. Coming from a 15.6v Panasonic (light weight, precise, medium duty), the build quality is very good but at 4.4lbs it can get a bit heavy. With the advertised TQ output, I expect the weight to come from the heavy duty gear case. No noticeable chuck runout. All in all very happy and if you are looking at the 'compact' version of the M18 fuel drills, don't bother, the chuck is definitely of lesser quality and its only 1/4" shorter than the hammer drill with the 2.0mah battery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's good, so far Been using it a week. So far, it's good. It does not feel lighter than previous generations or competing brands. The chuck will loosen if you are drilling and drop the bit out if you point the drill down. Every drill does this, I just wish they would have fixed this. The charger charges both 18 and 12 volt on the same device, but only one at a time. I use both heavily at work and the one charger isn't going to cut it. On the plus side, it has a ton of go and will push you off a ladder if you aren't careful. Feels balanced very well and seems durable. I like it a lot and it does it's job, it isn't soooo much better though. If you need a good drill and have the money, go for it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compared to DeWalt - chose Milwaukee Best drill I've ever owned. My current DeWalt NiCd tool set needed new batteries and a replacement drill, so it was time to look at Lithium Ion. This drill has more power than the others I looked at based on my first-hand comparison; combined with the wide range of tools available, I was sold on Milwaukee. I'm not a fan of the side handle design. Sure it seems sturdy enough, but it's two positions only - both sticking sideways - meaning I can't rotate it down for storage - it must be removed. I think anyone who touts the hammerdrill function as a great thing has never used a rotary hammer. Sure, this will get the job done in a pinch if you're installing tapcons or something similar, but I wouldn't think of using this for anything larger than 1/4" anchors, much less anything that has to penetrate to the other side of a block, brick or concrete wall. I don't consider this a negative though, as hammerdrills aren't really designed for anything more than this. My DeWalt NiCd set served me well, but I just sold it all for Milwaukee Red Lithium.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of the line in power This hammer drill is hands down the best in it's class and the power is unreal plus I couldn't believe the long run time when I was framing a add on to a house. I will not talk about the other drills out there that let me down like the dewalt and ridgid but I can honestly say ridgid is right behind Milwaukee but just not there. So keep up the great work and don't let the yellow catch up or the blue if you know what I mean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, but look closely! Love the Hammerdrill. Has great power and run time! I don't feel any weight difference from my 2602 Hammerdrill, but definately feel more power and runtime. The only gripe I really have is that the chuck is not the same as pictured in the majority of advertisement, as a matter of fact, it's not even the same as the one pictured on the front of the package. I wrote milwaukee on this, as I thought at first there was some type of manufacturing mix up, and they replied that the pictures are not accurate depictions of the actual product, and the one I had was legit. So I ask why the deception? In the video below, at 1:36 is the only place I have seen the correct chuck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3/4" AUGGER THROUGH 8" WOODEN BEAMS!! I drilled (5) 3/4" holes with an auger bit, through 8" wooden beams in an old bars with no problem whatsoever, unbelievable power from a cordless tool.
