I have used this saw on many occasions now and the only con I have is the blade guard get hung up on thin material to the point that I have to wire the guard open when making several of these cuts. With the guard disabled by the time I finish the cut till I set the saw down the blade has come to rest so there is no problem when setting it on the bench.
Other then this issue this is the best saw I have ever owned. Milwaukee just needs to tweak the blade guard a little more OR I have a file in my toolbox that can fix it!!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by johno I have owned a competitors saw for years. This saw worked well. However this milwaukee saw outperformed Others I own.
Blades should be be thicker on the 6 1/2" saw.
Built shed with this saw.
Did not come with saw width guide though.

All I can say is the saw is fantastic.Very well built. It is just another piece to my fuel model set.I purchased the 61/2 saw because of the blade being on the left.I guess it's just personel preference.I had another lime green brand that just didn't cut it.I returned it and never looked back. Now I have 6 fuel tools and am getting more.Once again fantastic !!!!!!!.

I just got this saw and haven't used it too much at work yet...but, it's smooth, the me 5 amp battery provides good power and it seems to last.
Overall, I'd recommend Milwaukee to someone getting into cordless. Their tools are the best performers all around. Do yourself a favor and go with this platform.

When cordless saws first hit the market they were under-powered and only good for small jobs. My thought was until they hit somewhere in the neighborhood of 60V they wouldn't be of much use and by then it would be too heavy to justify cutting the cord. Here we are, years later, and a lot has changed. Motors have gotten better, saw blades have gotten better and battery technology has vastly improved.
The Milwaukee M18 Fuel 6-1/2" Cordless Circular Saw is a lightweight saw with the power to handle a lot of cutting. I was working on a project recycling some old 3/4" plywood. The saw comes with a 24 TPI framing saw blade which I swapped out for a finer tooth, thinner kerf Diablo 6-1/2 in. x 40 Tooth Circular Saw Blade that is better for cutting plywood. I wound up cutting about:
- 28 feet in 3/4" plywood
- 16 feet in a double layer 3/4" plywood (1-1/2" thick)
Plus a little bit of the 2x4's I was using as a cutting table. This was out in the cold and there was still 1 bar left of battery power on the XC 4.0 battery pack. The saw didn't struggle or slow down at all. In fact I couldn't move the saw fast enough to get it to bog down.
I would have completely forgotten I was using a cordless tool except I kept thinking how great it was not having to worry about tripping over a cord or ruining a cut because the cord snagged. Combined with the electronic brake which stops the blade once you let go of the trigger and the thumb activated safety which must be pressed before the trigger engages I felt much safer using this saw to cut large sheet goods compared to a corded saw.
Unlike most circular saws this saw has a left mounted blade much like a worm drive saw. Together with the bright LED that turns on when you press the safety switch it's easier to see what you're cutting if you're right-handed. You don't have to struggle to see the blade over the motor.
This new model has an upgraded magnesium shoe compared to the older model's aircraft aluminum shoe. The magnesium shoe on the M18 Cordless Circular Saw keeps the saw light but still provides a strong, stable platform to get accurate cuts. The blade guard is also magnesium.
Everything about this tool is quality. The adjustment knobs are easy to operate, the bevel adjustment and guide markings are embossed so they won't fade, the blade mounts square, an allen wrench for removing the 5/8" arbor bolt to change the blade mounts securely on the handle and it's fairly quiet for a circular saw.
The hook on the handle makes it easy to hang the saw off a 2x4 in between cuts. Nice touch considering it always feels awkward putting a circular saw down since it doesn't have any flat sides while you're cutting.
A nice little feature I didn't notice is it has a slot for a rip fence. The 49-22-1001 Milwaukee Rip Fence Kit will work with it since it's meant for left bladed saws.
I stress tested the battery on my first Milwaukee REDLITHIUM Fuel tool and it survived. It seems like Milwaukee has done something really special with this battery. I've had issues with other well-regarded Li-ion batteries in the past.
The Milwaukee 2730-20 is a great saw. Being cordless makes it even better.

I think this is the best battery operated saw in the market by far it has plenty of power to get the job done for those that use battery operated saws a lot should know what I'm talking about. the brushless motor really helps out the batteries to last longer. I love the look feel and the performance of the saw and to know that I have a 5 year warranty. on a good tool that's like icing on the cake.

I am very happy I added this saw to my lineup of Milwaukee tools. I chose the tool-only option because I already have four batteries: two from the Grinder kit and two from the Impact Wrench kit I own.
Just like the Grinder and Impact Wrench, I am absolutely thrilled with this tool. Just like my concerns with the grinder, I was a little worried the circular saw would lack power simply because it is cordless...and once again my concerns were unfounded. This puppy has power!
I first used this tool to build a new shed door. I was cutting 3/4" plywood and the saw went through it with no problem. You'll see in the video I cut very slowly...this was NOT because the saw lacked power, but because I lacked experience. I was taking my time and being very careful. You can't see it in the video, but I, of course, was using eye and ear protection - I strongly urge you to do the same!
My only minor complaint is that the directions for setup and use are somewhat lacking. I wish they went into more detail and included more pictures/diagrams.
I just have one tip, probably only applicable to beginners: When putting the blade on, remember the bolt that secures it is reverse threaded! I spent 10 minutes trying to screw it in righty-tighty and got so frustrated I almost threw the tool across the room (not really).
I love this saw and I can't wait to continue growing my Milwaukee M18 Fuel line-up.
