The reason I have always preferred this left side blade mount type is that, as a righty, I can look right down the cut line naturally. With right side mount blade saws I can't do this without a very awkward lean over my right arm to see the cut line.
A lot of leftys have liked the "sidewinders" because they typically have the right side blade arrangement so their sight line is not blocked by their arm. Rightys like the worm drives with the blade on the left for the same reason.
This cordless saw, while having the classic "sidewinder" horizontally perpendicular motor/blade architecture, is orientated with the blade left, good for us rightys.

Answer:
Not true - the blade is mounted on the left side which is unusual for most circular saws. However, most higher end worm driver saws have the blade mounted on the left. Being right handed, I actually prefer a left mounted blade as I can easily see where its cutting and can hold a speed square with my left hand to ensure a square cut.

The 2730 is not actually designed specifically for left handed operation. No circular saw is designed to accommodate only individuals that are right or left handed. They are designed to accommodate both. Many users, both those that are left and right handed, just have a strong preference towards one or the other.
There are two options when designing circular saws of where the blade is located. Either the left side of the tool or the right side. Traditionally, corded “sidewinder” circular saws have always had the blades located on the right hand side of the saw. Inversely, corded “worm drive” circular saws have the blade on the left. Cordless circular saws have traditionally always had the blade located on the left hand side of the saw as well.
The main reason that users find a saw difficult or uncomfortable to use is because they are accustomed to using a different style saw then the one in hand. Where you hold the material, how you push the saw through the material and where you look to make an accurate cut can all change depending on the type of saw you are using. The best way for a user to decide which type of saw is best for them, is to get one in their hands and see how it feels. What is comfortable for one users might be uncomfortable for another and vice versa. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great saw This cordless saw has lots of power and the battery last a long time May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really great little saw Good balance, lightweight and easy to control. Bought to trim doors and for small jobs, then found myself ripping 3/4" hardwood and framing with it. Battery life is quite good with large batteries, about same run time as with my m18 hackzall or 1/2" hammer drill. Much nicer than my "yellow" 18v and it's rapid battery failure. August 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best cordless saw! Flawless performance This is an amazing battery powered saw! I had been using C branded power tools for years and have finally started migrating towards Milwaukee last fall. This saw was my first purchase of the Milwaukee brand. I decided to splurge for the 6 1/2 in fuel saw as I planned on getting a lot of use out of it. I've been building a lot of 4 board horse fencing and my c branded saw was not quite up to the task. This Milwaukee saw cuts through true 1" x 6" fence boards with ease. The large batteries last a long time (probably 70-80 cuts of 1x6s) and they hold full power to the very end. Weight seems appropriate as it is a quality tool but it is not hard to use it all day. The rafter hook is very handy to use to store the tool while you are preparing for your next cut. Since I purchased this saw, my corded circular saw has been collecting dust as it has no advantage over this saw. I have also added the fuel impact driver and fuel hammer drill to my tool chest. I have built a couple thousand feet of 4 board fencing since purchasing this saw last December. It has held up extremely well and I look forward to many years of future service. Go out and upgrade all of your power tools to Milwaukee and you will thank yourself! August 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Highly Recommend - awesome circ saw Terrific saw. Very happy with it. I'd recommend this to anyone. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Saw! I purchased this saw for daily home remodeling and interior/exterior repairs. Great product as always. The rafter hook is nice but I'd rather have a belt hook. My corded circular saws rarely leave the truck anymore. I only use the 4.0 batteries since it burns through the smaller ones pretty quick. I never have any issues since I have several batteries and usually break out a corded saw for all day cutting. My favorite saw. December 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Milwaukee 18 Fuel , top notch Unsurpassed power and amazing life of battery . Couldn't believe I got a full day of use out of one charge . April 7, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great cordless saw Light weight and durable. The extended battery life is a plus. Very powerful saw I would put it against any corded saw I've used in the past. If your using it for home use/repairs 1 fully charged battery is more than enough to power through a project. Having the second battery pack is a plus if your were using on the job. Being cordless makes it very convenient to use and you don't have to sacrifice power for the convenience which makes this the perfect saw for at home or on the job. The batteries charge very fast as well, the charging station is very convenient and easy to use. October 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Little Saw I was slightly surprised about how well this saw works. It is light, easy to handle, surprisingly powerful, packed with simple easy to use features, and has enough battery power to make it a very useful thing. November 8, 2014
