Milwaukee wasn't messing around when they designed this impact wrench - it's lightweight and packs a ton of power. The batteries take about 30 minutes each to charge. I was pretty happy that the charger also included an M12 battery dock in addition to the M18 dock, since I have several M12 tools in my collection. The three fastening modes are easy to switch between, and the battery fuel gauge is a nice addition. The friction ring design holds sockets on securely while still allowing easy change-out.
I'm always skeptical of marketing claims like "best in class", etc., so I did some fact checking by looking up the torque ratings for the 18V cordless competition:
Milwaukee: 200 ft-lbs
Teal Brand: 155 ft-lbs
Yellow Brand: 125 ft-lbs
I'd say Milwaukee definitely has a solid lead above the competition when it comes to max torque!
The brushless motor will last a lot longer than a standard motor as well. It can handle just about any basic automotive work a DIY tinkerer will need it for. Stubborn lug nuts are no match for this impact wrench - I was really surprised at how much faster I can change a tire while using this tool instead of a tire iron. I just went on a week-long road trip, and I threw this impact wrench and an extra battery in the car just before I left. Since it's so compact, it didn't take up much extra space at all. Luckily I didn't need it, but it was there if I did. When I got home, I checked the batteries, and they were both still at 100% even after sitting in a hot car all week.

I work in a JD repair Shop. I like to use a 3/8 impact to install knives on pull type choppers. i can install 144 bolts torqued to roughly 100 ft lbs on a single charge and still have battery life left. I could never do that with a snap-on. 1/2 inch will be my next purchase when my snap-on gives out.

This is my first cordless impact wrench and I was skeptical of the power capability for automotive use. After using the Milwaukee 2654-22 for two auto projects and replacing blades on a riding mower, I’m quite impressed with this compact tool.
Air impact wrenches are great for breaking loose bolts, but are very lacking when it comes to fastening at specific torques. The Milwaukee 2654 has three selectable torque modes; one at 200 ft-lbs for removing bolts, and two modes for fastening (35 and 75 ft-lbs). It has plenty of power for removing wheel lugs and other large bolts, along with precision fastening. The compact size and light weight are also beneficial when working in tight spaces.
The only minor drawback with the Milwaukee 2654 is that 3/8” impact socket sets are not widely available. I found a 3/8”-to-½” adapter to allow use of my ½” impact sockets. Overall, I am very pleased with this product and recommend it for general purpose and automotive use.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ToyTech M18 Fuel is AWESOME!
After owning a M12 Fuel setup for the past two years I knew it was long overdue to add the M18 to my tool box. I use these tools full time in my job as an auto mechanic. The convenience and power that these Fuel products offer all but make air tools obsolete.

For a 3/8 it has more punch than my 3/8 air snap on.
I pulled the engine out of my car in my garage and back to heater again using no air just this tool and a standard ratchet in the real tight places no air rachet.
I love this thing wish these were out 10 years ago when I worked in the dealerships.
They will remove lug nuts but on max power for tighten just barely gets it to 100 foot lbs. I will go more probably if you sit there and hammer on it. Use a torque wrench anyway on important fasteners like that. Mode one and 2 for going back together with a engine is perfect. You will need to use it quite a bit before you get a feel for the modes.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kustomkulture13 best cordless 3/8 impact period
I am professional auto technician and have used many different brands of 3/8 cordless impacts and this has blasted all of those out of the water. non of the tool trucks cordless can even come close to the power this puts out. i also really like the fact that it has a variable trigger and variable power settings, really makes it a versatile tool. i love this tool and cant wait to keep using it at work.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Glenn A VERY nice cordless impact.
I bought this to replace an aged impact I used for years, and the batteries were no longer available. i am very happy with the Milwaukee impact. Small, lighter design, quieter, and has not failed me yet. I especially like the LED on the front, what my old one didn't have. The 'Fuel' batteries are great. I highly recommend this to anyone needing this type of tool.
