It's a radio that charges batteries, and it just does both of those things. The radio distorts at half volume, making it useless for noisy jobsites. Like, the kinds of places you'd need cordless tools.
Also, for the size, you'd think if it couldn't charge more than one battery at a time, it could at least store one while it's charging another. But, it can't.
For the money, I wish I'd just purchased a multiple battery charger and a cheap radio with the same sound quality.

I upgraded from the previous Milwaukee Job Site Radio. This is a great radio and works really well. Bluetooth is also a great feature.
I would say that the weather compartment is not as secure as the previous (non battery charging) model. I also think the previous model seemed a little tougher and felt like it could take a hit where this one seems more fragile.

liked the radio, but it didn't sound clean and clear. had a problem with distortion. have the Rockford fosgate radio, sounds good. I returned the new pricey radio for the distortion problem and I m going to purchase another one, hoping I just had a faulty unit. rocket

The M18 jobsite/radio charger Is awesome while on the job! Not only do I get to listen to my playlist from my phone via bluetooth, which makes my day better, this thing also charges almost anything I need. Ipod, phone , whatever! Plus its virtually indestructible, It has a cool lookin roll cage for when it gets knocked over, or when something drops on it unexpectedly. for what it is I would say it is very light weight any easy to take on every job. I would highly recommend this to everyone, whether you are a contractor, or just your everyday guy who likes to tinker, this helps make those times more enjoyable!

This is a great radio, but there are some things that I would tweak. I have been dragging this radio with me everywhere since it launched; my house, house projects, work, and the hotel pool (it's a new toy). I am a commercial aircraft mechanic, and this radio sounds great in the hangar and received many compliments on the sound and bass from this small package. I am able to get over four hours on a compact battery (1.5 AH, 27WH) on FM, not sure about the other modes. There are 5 FM & 5 AM presets. The backup battery (2xAAA) compartment is on the left in the waterproof device compartment. Mine was not marked, but battery negative goes to the spring.
The USB jack is for charging and does a fine job. I tried plugging in a thumb drive with MP3s on it, they didn't play. My 5v (USB) charger makes noise when first connected if it is plugged into the wall, this seems to be diminishing with use. It will make noise if the radio is turned on or off, so it is not an interference problem nor bleed into the amp. There is no noise if it is on m18 power. The USB port does turn off with the radio power if using battery.
The m18 charger noise isolation from the radio is perfect, there is no change in the audio when charging. The AM/FM reception is incredible, I have not had a reason to deploy the FM antenna and always had great reception. The AM antenna is fixed internal, you can see it in the parts diagram, I have not had to adjust the radio to improve reception, it does better than my car.
The radio does have a soft volume start, when you turn on the radio it ramps up to the last setting. The volume could ramp up a bit faster, but I love the feature as implemented. The display on the radio is bright and easy to read, but you need to press the clock button after you turn it on, or it will keep the radio station displayed. I normally listen to AM/FM but the AUX and Bluetooth have been nice to have also.
The radio comes with an Aux (1/8") cord that is the perfect length to reach the headphone jack on my iPad. I bought a 1.5' micro USB cord and a micro USB to Apple 30pin adapter so that I can charge my phone or iPad without having to change the cord nor carry two cords.
Overall I'm very happy with the radio/charger.

The Milwaukee M18 Jobsite radio is an incredibly rugged piece of equipment. Everything about it feels like quality, and the heavyweight design means it is not going to get knocked over.
Whilst it serves very well as an AM and FM radio, where it really shines it the ability to link to your cell phone via Bluetooth, not only does this allow you to listen to all the music stored on your phone, but it also opens up the possibility to stream music from the internet - it worked really well with iTunes Radio, and Pandora. If your phone doesn’t support Bluetooth audio, don’t worry, Milwaukee also provide a standard auxiliary jack in the form of a mini headphone jack. Connecting via Bluetooth means you can adjust the volume, change the playlist, and pause the music without having to walk over to the radio - no more having to descend a ladder to mute the radio to talk to a coworker or take a call. The audio quality, when using my iPhone over Bluetooth, was crystal clear with a rich and full sound.
I found the range of audio to be very pleasing, it is much better than any portable radio I have used in the past, albeit not as good as a home entertainment system, but this radio packs a real punch for its size. The bass was deep and the high tone sharp and clear.
The radio is a bit of a chameleon in that it can charge an M18 battery if you have a power outlet available, but can also run off an M18 battery if you don’t have power nearby. This makes it incredibly versatile.
Atop the radio is a small water resistant compartment where you can stow your phone (or other small items), and inside the compartment is a powered USB port. This is great for charging your phone or any device that needs up to 2.1A of charging power. If you leave the compartment lid open, then the lid forms a stand for a tablet or other electronic device.
A large easy-to-read LCD screen with large digits displays the time, easily visible from 20 or more feet away.
The radio is a little pricey, but you really do get what you are paying for here, and it is worth every penny.
