Customer Questions & Answers

I was looking at this to see if I can put a masonary drill bit on the end and attach it to my dewalt impact wrench. Will this work for this?

Asked by: Chief
This adaptor will not work for the intended application. This adaptor has 2 male ends and you would need a male and female end plus a masonry bit with a hex shank. Also, when using an impact wrench for masonry this could damage the bit due to instability (wobble) with the adaptor.

SHOCKWAVE 1/2 in. Square x 1/4 in. Hex Impact Adaptor is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Difficult to remove I got this to go with my Milwaukee 2663 impact driver. The 2663 has the friction ring tip. Once you get this attachment on over the ring it has a lot of movement. I was just testing it out and wanted to take it off. This proved to be very difficult. The piece tends to come off half way when then pops the opposite side back down. I was amazed I couldnt get it off. The only way to remove it was to put the adapter in a bench vise and yank the tool out. The issue is that the interior of this adapter should have been better designed so that it properly compresses the friction ring at all points when removing it. If there is not full contact all around the ring won't compress and that's when you get this problem of the thing coming off half way and snapping back down. Sockets pop on and off the friction ring with no problem. Now I will feel like I can only use this sparingly since I know how hard it is to equip.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK one to make more use of impact wrench As title, and as an adapter but not original one, don't expect it will very stable when drill, just get use the power of impact wrench

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just fine Not having the issues that previous reviewer had. This adapter works like a charm--Now I can drive 14" log screws with my 1/2" impact gun without batting an eye. Adapter mechanism for on/off & in/out work as I would have expected. I'm ordering another one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fell apart after about 20 screws I thought this would be the perfect thing to let me use my 1/2" drive Milwaukee cordless impact drill to drive Philips head concrete fastener screws (Tapcon). But after about 20 screws, the body of the adaptor fell apart and the internal spring and ball bearing went rolling across the floor. I pressed everything back together, but after 2 more screws it fell apart again - this time the ball bearing disappeared. I would have thought Milwaukee could make a high quality adaptor (unlike other cheapo ones I've seen). Maybe I got a fluke. I'll be contacting them for a replacement.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't use with a Hog Ring Impact I had the same issue that MRB reported, but with the 3/8" drive version and my Milwaukee M12 impact wrench. It damaged the friction ring on my M12 such that it required replacement of the o-ring and snap ring. I also have the 1/2" adapter, which I can use with one of my 1/2" impacts that has a ball-type retainer, but not the one with the hog ring. Use caution.
