Answer:
Generally a High Gloss finish is created thru the use of a Gloss Poly or Lacquer finish & possibly followed by a wax as advised by the manufacturer.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by minwax expereince on several peices this product is great for all types of wood . i used over chalky paint and was great on most colors except white . it is tinites and adds a yellow color to white or light vitage white paint . great on all dark colors make sure you buff 15 mins after for better finiish if you wait to cure any longer will no buff as nicely . 3.5/5 June 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome I used this to apply a finish top coat over a large picture frame I built. I painted with acrylic craft paint, distressed the edges and finished with the wax. It was super easy to work with, it was fast, and I achieved the exact finish I was looking for. Much easier and faster than any spray or laquer top coat I've used in the past. Apply, wait 15, buff off, done. Finish wasn't oily or sticky and I was able to handle the piece within moments of finishing. Plus, I barely made a dent in the can. This stuff will last me forever. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good substitute for more expensive waxes I was using this wax to go over chalk paint, to avoid paying for a very expensive can of Annie Sloan furniture wax. I think this product worked well, although it's not totally clear when it dries. Also, I learned that if you are going to buff away excess wax, it's very important to do so about 15 minutes after application. I waited till the next day to buff and it was very, very difficult to remove. When i buffed after just 15 minutes, I was much happier with the finished project. August 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well, Does what it said it would. Sweet, it really does what it said it would and more!! March 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product I used the 'special dark' version of this wax on a mahogany desk that had lots of scratches in the poly finish. Use 600 grit sandpaper to remove fine scratches and swirls then apply this wax with #0000 steel wool. It takes some buffing but leaves an excellent hardened finish. September 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This stuff is AMAZING!!! I recently purchased a bedroom set that had seen better days. Some surfaces were veneer and some wood, so I sanded and painted. Most top coats/sealers tend to turn yellow when using over a light color paint....this did not! Super easy to apply and clean up is a breeze! August 1, 2013
