Carefully follow directions....many thin coats yields best desirable results....good product.....way better than Watco or Behlens. For first coat apply excess and wait 15-20 minutes and wipe off excess and let dry. I use 100% cotton flannel strips 2" x 4" folded for applying. Use tack cloth between coats. I usually wait 48 hours between applications. If this is done carefully little to no sanding is needed between coats. I routinely achieve a nice "oil rubbed" sheen on my projects. If needed wet sand with 4000 micro mesh after curing for at least 8-10 days. Do not interpret a dry non-tacky surface as a complete cure. In fact this and most coatings continue to cure (harden) for several months after "drying"....the longer one waits before final wet sanding the better the final "look".......David Woodruff...long time wood worker

No bubbles and nice smooth finish (assuming you have sanded appropriately). The only down side, if you can even call it that, is that you usually have to apply several coats with light sanding between coats. But the up side is that you get spectacular results with no bubbles. Have used this product on multiple projects and it is by far the easiest to apply.

You can even use a folded blue shop towel, the kind that comes in a roll, to apply it. Just toss the towel after and no clean up. It does go on in much thinner coats so it would be good to put on multiple coats. I was able to recoat a dining table top in about 5 minutes with no fear of bubbles or brush marks.

I first bought this to refinish a stair rail that, some 25+ years ago, the previous owner had slopped with paint. I stripped the paint, sanded lightly and applied two coats of Minwax Wipe-on Poly. I was very pleased with how easy it was to apply, with none of the usual brush marks or bubbles I am used to with polyurethane. The "clear" has a slight golden tint so it "warms" the color a bit - the result was wonderful. I then used this to refinish our cherry kitchen cabinet fronts, installed in 1991, whose factory finish had worn off in places and there were spots of water darkening. After cleaning thoroughly with mineral spirits, light sanding and treating the dark spots with oxalic acid, I applied two coats of the Minwax. Again, very easy and the result was great. In particular, the cabinet doors that had looked the worst were now looking as good as new, and now that I have only some of them done it entices me to do the rest soon!

The wood surface was sanded well wiped to remove dust stained lightly. The wipe on poly went on easy enough, apparently covering the table top well. However it remained tacky for several days after application even in my warm house.

While not appropriate for some areas that may have a lot of moisture, such as window sills and sink back splashes, , I really like the wipe-on poly for my interior doors and mouldings. It's very easy to apply without the big worry of overlaps and bubbles that you have with the original polyurathane.

I then add another coat of minwax and buff with Tripoli, white diamond, and carnuba wax after the minwax has dried for at least a day. I have tried many finishes and this gives me the look I prefer.

I used on curly maple and it provided an amber overtone which was what I desired. A final sanding with a 300+ grit paper left an absolutely smooth surface.
