CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Finish Had trouble finding this stain locally for some reason but I am glad to see it is not being discontinued. This is a very beautiful finish, I put it on solid cherry, really gives any project a lot of charater. Little tough to make the jump to something so dark but the end result is great. Also, was able to pick up through the order online/pick up in store and it was very convient and easy, would definately recommend for anyone that already knows what they need. October 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Didnt work for me I dont know what was wrong but this goes on like a thin watercolor paint. I thought it was oil based, but it hardly seems to cover. Even after two coats it still looked like thin and bad. Get Rustoleum instead, that went on nice and thick in one coat! This minwax is just terrible. I dont know why. August 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Liked it better than Rustoleum I am restaining all the interior doors in my house. Prep: I first stripped them with a citrus based stripping product, scraped off the old stain and polyurethane with a razor blade and used a BRASS brush to remove the stuff in the grain of the wood (dont use a steel brush, it will scratch and make the surface fuzzy!). I then removed the residule with odorless mineral spirits. I then used compressed air to remove any left over dust from teh surface. Stain: I tried both Minwax and Rustoleums ultimate wood stain. I prefered the minwax because it goes on thin and it "stains" the wood. The Rustoleum product is slightly thicker and hides the grain, and was difficult to avoid making streaks (maybe my brush was too coarse?). Anyway, I would suggest you buy a small can of each brand and try both first, they have very different end results. September 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great product! we applied minwax ebony of our hardwood floors post sanding and clean up. it's a type of oak, unsure which exactly. the minwax really took a liking to the oak wood. we applied 2 coats, followed by several coats of polyeurathan in semi-gloss. our floors look spectactular! thumbs up to the reps at HD who were very helpful and explained how stains react differently to various types of wood. i learned a lot in the short time i was there and will definitely take that into consideration the next time i stain/refinish wood. Rated 5 out of 5 by ebony stained cabinets So I decided to take on another project. Refinishing my kitchen cabinets. So with a little help from my boyfriend, and a lot of help from the paint guys at my home depot (they know me by name there, now) we started sanding away. After all the sanding was done, which was the hardest part of the whole project we applied the MINWAX EBONY stain, and then sealed it with the MINWAX POLYURETHANE in semi gloss. Now my cabinets are more contemporary and absolutely gorgeous. Another project I can check off my list. Love my home depot!!!!!!!! October 19, 2010
