This product was used on a saircase I built in 2012. Holds up amazing if you follow the directions. A dusty/dirty surface area will cause the chipping in other reviews. The smell can get fairly strong, but its a poly. it's expected. Please see Pic included...
The stain used was Minwax Golden Oak 210B used on Red Oak treads and rails.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bill How to refinish wood
I have refinished furniture for many years. Some I have stained, others i just coat with the polyurethane. I have always use Minwax. Once the wood is sanded smooth, blow off and use a tack cloth to get all the dust off of it. I apply by rubbing it in with my hands. Let it dry and sand down with 400 to 600 wet sandpaper. 3 coats on top and rub out with Minwax paste wax with fine steel wool. Smooth as a babies butt.

Applied per all the instructions. It looked stunning. After a few weeks, it has been peeling off.....starting to bubble, scratches easily and then peel like onion skins. Since it was a well known brand, I figured it would be a good investment.....and it was not cheap.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nonya WORST EVER!
My first experience with Minwax Polyurethane. As a seasoned professional antique furniture restorer I can say without any shadow of doubt that this is the WORST finishing product I have ever used! It dries very quickly to a SEMI-DRY state negating any follow up attention if needed, then runs under just about every circumstance. If you spray a thin coat it doesn't cover, and if you spray or brush enough to cover it runs every time on vertical surfaces. I completely ruined the case from a 1941 Philco Radio restoration because of the runs. It was applied correctly, and not excessively. Now that case will have to be hand sanded down to the wood again to get this runny garbage off.
If you want a good finish without having to do it over a number of times to try and fix it, then don't buy this product. Use Varethane.
Absolutely disgusted and angry at the mess this "product" made of this project.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RednexToyz Great Performance, Follow the Directions
I've done numerous woodworking projects using this as my final coat. Product works GREAT if you follow the directions. Stir, don't shake .... Quality Brush .... clean, oil free surface & VOILA, a quality finish. Expect typical polyurethane odor since this is not a water based product. Odor MAY linger for up to a 30 day period as the product cures (based on # of coats, temperature, humidity, etc...) I've never, personally, had a product smell for more than a couple days unless I really "try" to spell it.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unhappyfloorfinisher12 Do not purchase
We purchased this product for our hardwood floors. This product is very cheap in quality, bubbles very easily on floors and then little polyurethane chips are seen in the dust pan every time I sweep the floors (daily!). Very disappointed in this product, unfortunately we cannot re-do our floors and will have to live with sub-par quality of this product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Johnnypi Great finish
I just moved into a new home. My kitchen cabinets needed a full redo. I really haven't taken on a project like this before. I used Minwax, and my cabinets look awesome. I really thought I was going to have to buy new ones. These look as good as new. Great product. Keep lightly sandng and after the 3rd sanding ...wow awesome.
