Customer Reviews

1 qt. Wood Finish Weathered Oak Oil-Based Interior Stain is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gray and very light! I bought this thinking it would match the picture on the minwax website and like another reviewer said, it's just gray when used on light wood. No brown tones at all. Buyer beware! Don't make the same mistake I did and not test product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Stain - Grey Color Color on can is applied to a much darker wood. Rather than creating the color of weathered oak, it is better said a way to make dark oak look weathered. I applied it to pine hoping for the warm brown with grey and black overtones and instead found it to be simply grey. I took a picture of the test strip so you could see for yourself. The color next to it on the left is Varathane's Summer Oak which is much more red and amber than the pic, again because it is applied to pine. I ended up using the grey weathered oak stain as a wash over a light application of the warmer color and that's what you get. I think it's about as close as I'm going to get to weathered oak trying to stain a very pale pine ply. The stain itself is fine. I wiped it on and it was easy enough to work with. Be quick about it when applying to thirsty raw wood unless you want the full effect. I kept the rag damp and wiped quickly and evenly and got a lighter shade. Good luck on your project.
