Customer Reviews

8 oz. PolyShades Espresso Satin Stain and Polyurethane in 1-Step is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will Never Purchase Again I had used this on a rough platform I made for my bed; pine 2x4's and 3/4 plywood and it worked great. I purchased more of the material to use on a cabinet I bought at Restore. I removed the doors and sanded the doors/cabinet with 40/80/120 grit sandpaper. I am now 6 coats in (sanding with 220 grit sandpaper in between coats) and the attached pictures are current status. I put the first coat on with a paintbrush and the doors looked terrible. I then switched to cut up cotton shirts and while the application was better than a brush, the end result is uneven streaking; dark, light, etc.; a slight white fogginess when dry; and the doors not taking the stain in certain spots. This product seemed like an easy DIY product, but it's turned out very poorly considering the time that's been put in. Maybe I shouldn't have removed the old cabinet stain? Either way, will never use again, and would never recommend to anyone. I also have a friend that used this product and didn't know until recently that they sanded it off to use something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! We used polyshades espresso to refinish a 10 15 foot 1930s walnut table. The table already had a polyurethane coat on it and we did not want to strip the whole table. We chose to use polyshades for the first time and we were not let down by the quality of the product! It was easy to use and gave the table a great color! We only did one coat so the original walnut color would show through so it wasnt a solid color. If we wanted a solid color the product would have been easy to do a second coat. I definitely recommend this product!
