8 oz. PolyShades Honey Satin Stain and Polyurethane in 1-Step is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Smells!!! I purchased this when I bought wood crates to build nightstands. Thought it'd be easiest as it's 2 steps in one. I did 2 coats in 2 days and let dry outside for a night before bringing one of the nightstands inside. I woke up with the WORST headache ever! I put it back outside with the other one for about 10 days. Now, they are sitting in my living room, can't even bring into the bedroom bc they smell SO bad. Idk what to do. I've lit candles all around, put bowels of baking soda, vinegar and charcoal (all in separate individual containers) all over the shelves to help absorb odor, but nothing is helping. Help!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One of the Worst Products I've Ever Used! Several years ago I used this product on all the newly stripped woodwork in my entire house, without a problem. So it was the first thing I thought of to refinish the top only of an ornately carved, previously polyurethaned oak table. First i used an unopened can from the old stock from the woodworking project. As soon as it touched the tabletop, a zillion bubbles formed. They did not go away as it dried. I ended up applying six coats, trying a minimum of brushing with the recommended natural bristle brush, and sanding each coat off.. The last two or three coats were diluted with paint thinner. Same result each time. Then I ordered a fresh can. Same problem - bubbles (not as many, but enough to ruin the surface). The new can had another problem - no matter how carefully I applied it with the recommended natural bristle brush, the surface was full of brush marks. This product is a complete wast of time and money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not even close to right color I'm sorry but do not buy this, not even close to the right color on the jar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Rich Color. Smooth Finish So easy to apply. Wash surface, sand lightly, and paint on a coat or two (watch for drips). The results are gorgeous. And, it goes a long way. You will need mineral spirits for clean-up. Made my cabinets look like new!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Uneven streaks Very uneven! Would not recommend. It leaves the wood streaky with dark spots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well Just refinished our living room floor. It is about 400 sq. ft. Follow the directions and be patient. We ended up using three coats, and waited at least 16 hours. It was pretty cool weather, and humidity was high. We didn't sand between coats but we did use a bit of steel wool to help with a few of the bubbles. Excellent product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from There's definitely a learning curve Be forewarned, I would never, ever, ever use this product without adding mineral spirits to thin it out! I mixed the Honey and Espresso color for my kitchen table top and thinned by about 10% with mineral spirits, but still got a gloppy, rough, bubbly texture even though I had stripped and sanded the natural wood very thoroughly. After sanding down the first two coats of Polyshades on my entire table top with 320 grit sandpaper, I thinned the product to about 1/3 mineral spirits and 2/3 Polyshades. Then I applied very, very thin coats to to the table and let them dry 24 hours in-between coats. I also sanded the small bubbles that arose in between each coat. Because my table top had already been refinished once, and only had thin wood veneer, a standard stain and polyurethane was not going to be an option for me. This product was the only option I had to keep the table-top "wood" versus just painting the whole table. It seems to be a labor-intensive process, and this product is not for those looking for a quick-fix, but the color is beautiful and its a great option when traditional stains won't cut it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A BAD idea Minwax makes stains. Minwax makes polyurethane. In and of themselves they are decent products but that depends on your taste in finishes - rubbed oil or wax - or a surface coating like lacquer or polyurethane. But this product is like putting onions together with ice cream. Just a bad idea. It was impossible to control the product on the wood surface. It dripped and sagged. The color was uneven when applied (and I used the pre-stain conditioner). The directions speak of "tipping" the coating with a natural bristle brush. "Building up the depth of color" your want. Hogwash. It went on like brown paint. It dried too fast to do the "tipping" It turned into a disaster I had to remove and do all over. YUCK. Don't wast your money. And Home Depot... Why do you let a vendor fill your shelves with a product like this?
