Customer Questions & Answers

Do I need to mix it with other soil if I am using this for herbs and growing veggies in pots?

Do I need to mix it with other soil if I am using this for herbs and growing veggies in pots?
Asked by: Sabrina
Miracle-Gro Garden Soil for Flowers & Vegetables is not intended for use in containers. Garden soil may cause damage because it is too dense for most potted plants and could suffocate their roots. Garden Soil for Flowers & Vegetables is designed as an amendment and should be mixed thoroughly into native soil for better in-ground growing conditions. If you have any further questions about this, please call us at 877-220-3089.

Will this work in raised bed gardens for vegetables

Asked by: Wes
I had no idea that this garden soil needs to be mixed with potting mix or top soil. So I bought 6 big bags for my 7 ft x 3 ft x 10 inch raised garden bed. I planted and seeded my vegetables only to notice that they are dead. So, I need to get equal amount of potting mix and mix them together, correct?

What ratio of potting soil and compost with this would I use?

Asked by: Jenniffer
Jenniffer, the Miracle Gro Garden Soil for Flowers & Vegetables is meant to amend native soil when planting in the ground. There is no need to mix this with additional compost or potting soil.

How much gallons will it fill?

We are trying to grow plants in a nursery pot and it holds 3 gallons so we need to know how many gallons will one bag fill
Asked by: Butterfly
The ratio for dry gallons to a cubic foot is 6.429 dry gallons to a cubic foot so multiply dry gallons(6.429)x(2)cubic feet per bag then divide by gallon amount your bags are to tell how many bags you will get from a 2 cubic foot bag of soil.(6.429)x(2)=12.858 divided by 3 gallons per bag)= 4.286. I hope this helps

2 cu. ft. Garden Soil for Flowers and Vegetables is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 567.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from does what it says. 2 cu. ft. Garden Soil for Flowers and Vegetables Dig a hole, plant a vegetable, and fill with miracle-gro garden soil. That is all you need to do in order to grow amazingly healthy and robust vegetables. This garden soil always gives my plants a head start and keeps them growing all season long. I have used this soil in my garden for the last 6 years and have only had positive results. Miracle Gro soil is normally more expensive then the other soil brands but the quality of the soil is well worth the price. I will never choose any other soil to plant my garden with, this is the best soil around. ProsEasy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I have been gardening for years! But this is the first time I bought Miracle Grow garden soil. It was FULL of pieces of bark, plastic, twigs and junk! As for it actually helping the plants remains to been seen. if I had wanted all the "junk" in my veggie garden I would have just thrown in mulch! Will try something else next year for sure.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst soil ever I guess they changed their mix last year,we had no problems , But this year we are growing a really healthy crop of as my Wife puts it yucky MUSHROOMS . it also has a really bad Oder to it. I could have gotten the same results using the really cheap garden soil with bat guano in it. Needless to say we will never buy any more of their products

Rated 3 out of 5 by from mushrooms everywhere Not sure if this is improving the growth of my plants or anything, but the one thing that bothered me is once I put it in the raised beds mushrooms started popping up everywhere. At this point there are more mushrooms than plants, even though I get rid of them every day. Not sure if this is a plus for potting soil I don't know about...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT SOIL I don't know gardening but this is what I know This is bark, pebbles and mulch infused with fertilizer Here is the secret ingredient you should buy 60% manure 20% peat moss 20% perlite throw it a little worm casting or bat guano with 1 table spoon per gallons alfalfa meal

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GARDEN SOIL It was recommended for my raised gardens, the right amount for each 6 cu ft. It easy to care for, easy to dig in and doesn't let weeds get through

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all purpose soil I like to use this soil mixed with generic top soil and manure for areas of the lawn that need additional soil and nutrients.
