Customer Questions & Answers

Can I mix Miracle - Gro. and. Scott's Premium Topsoil together

Asked by: DD
Garden Soil may be mixed with other garden soil, topsoil, or lawn soil. You would just have to determine how much of each to use. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us at 877-220-3089.

should you still use liquid fertilizer periodically when watering?
Asked by: wannabegardner
Spoke with a rep and she said that it is best used with the Miracle Grow liquid fertilizer, which would seem to make sense. Have used that combination so far this year and the plants are either even with or slightly ahead of the other plants we're trying something else with.

Using in a new slightly boxed in vegetable garden. Does this soil already have "compost" in it? I was thinking of adding about 1" of compost on top of the garden if it didn't but I don't want to buy compost if this already has some in it.
Asked by: Angela
I use the Garden Soil either straight out of the bag for potted flowers/plants, or to mix in with my "tired" soil to enhance and nourish it. It already contains the organic material needed, so no compost is necessary.

2 cu. ft. Garden Soil for Flowers and Vegetables is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 851.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too much garbage in the soil I purchased 15 bags of this soil for my garden. When I opened them up and started sifting through I notice several pieces of rock, plastic, hard plastic sticks, etc. I don't understand why these items are in this soil. Very disappointing and a poor quality product.

I have some of the worst soil (hard red clay) for growing a vegetable garden and I use this yearly for helping enrich the soil and enhancing the plants ability to grow. To call this solely garden soil is slightly inaccurate as is it a mix of soil and nutrient rich ingredients with a bit mulch mixed in. It has a slight odor when applied which I believe comes from a bit of manure that is mixed into the soil. The smell dissipates after a few hours though and really isn’t that bad. The area I have for my raised garden bed is small at about 10 by 3 but I still used about 5 bags or so for that area. This garden soil is best for gardening and is not really for potted plants, although I will say I have used for that purpose as well. As far as growing is concerned, this has worked well for helping grow healthy vegetable plants, although I have had some types do better than others but I think that is more dependent on other factors than the Miracle Gro. 4 stars

I got ten bag this year and as soon I put down the first bag I found more burned wood pieces, rubber, plastic and rocks. I though it might be just this bag. I found the exact same unacceptable garbage in the second bag. I had to remove this soil as my garden looks like I had put down mulch instead of soil. The remaining bags are going back and I will not buy this soil again until Miracle -Glo decides to make a SOIL product again. I can buy a bag of much for $2. No need to buy Miracle Glo mulch for $8.

This year we have down quite a large amount of yard work with a great deal to follow in the next 2, I have bought 8 bags of this product so far this season and it is common to find a foreign object in soil(any soil) but one of the bags had an extremely large amount. It will not keep me from using their products but it does seriously make me want to know where they gain their soil from and how the process it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It survived my novice ways For the first time ever, I decided I would buy a plant and pot it. Being young and reckless, I figured moisture control would be something I need because I have no idea what I am doing. WOW, this stuff really helps you control the moisture level in your plant. I WAY over-watered my plant (recall that I am young and reckless) and this stuff sucked it up like nothing and kept my fledgling plant from dying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Side by Side Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Soil Vs. Other Cheaper Moistuer Control Potting soil When planting my window planter boxes I ran out of Miracle-Gro Moisture Control potting soil so I ran to the local quick mart and picked up a cheap bag of moisture control potting soil thinking it would probably work just as well. I wont be making that mistake again. you can see for yourself the difference after only 2 weeks!

Smells horrible for about a week (not a big deal) and there were pieces of plastic and other garbage in the soil? No telling what kind of chemicals are in there when you find garbage in it. Should have bought a different organic brand.
