Customer Questions & Answers

Why is home depot advertising 64 qt bags for 13.97, and 50 qt bags for 13.97.

I have screens hots if you need them.
Asked by: Katface
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. We do see the items are in store only item to be purchase and ordered to be picked up in. We do see the 50 qt as the same price as the 64 qt. You would have to check with your local Home Depot garden department to see if the 64 qt would be on sale.. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

How can it be 64 Qt, yet .66 Cubic Feet?

If this truly is a 64 qt bag as stated, that should convert to 1.4 cubic feet of material. The .66 cubic feet as shown in the details would equate to a 17 quart capacity. Very irritating that manufacturers and retailers use different standards to confuse the buyer.
Asked by: Bobcat
No need to apologize Home Depot. Here are the facts. First we must distinguish between dry and wet quarts. A cubic foot is 29.9221 wet quarts or 25.71 in dry quarts. 2 cubic feet = 51.43 dry quarts. 51 43/100 quarts dry US (qt dry / volume and capacity) The average volume for a 2 cu. ft. bag should be between 50 and 53 dry quarts, more or less considering moisture content. For example bags that are kept outside will often acquire more moisture than bags kept in a controlled environment. Outside moisture not only adds weight to bags, but it condenses fresh soil mix as well. Expect your dry quart capacity to vary a few quarts. 36 "DRY" quarts not 17. 1.4 cubic feet (cu ft - ft3 in volume and capacity) Equals : 36.00 quarts dry US (qt dry / volume and capacity)

Why is this not recommended for gardens, but only for potted plants? What is the chemical analysis of this product?

Asked by: yorl

I am near Chicago and we are no strangers to rain, this week several days of it. The pots will be definitly over watered, right:?

Asked by: Suzie
I would think you had good drainage..(holes in bottoms of pots, etc.). If so, I don't think you have anything to worry about... The moisture collecting nodules, in the soil mix, will have been completely moistened... So, when & if you have a dry spell between showers, this will stay moist longer and NOT quickly dry out. This is just my opinion...

64 qt. Moisture Control Potting Mix is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 225.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from WAY TO MANY GNAT EGGS!!!!!!!! I just bought a bag of your miracle grow potting mix to reppot my very young vegetable plants in. After buying i looked up the reviews and I read all these horrid review on your product about the gnats and your statement of that a few eggs are laid through the air holes during transfer and storage. So I decided to do a test. I took 6 samples from this bag I just opened (top bottom 4 sides and middle) and I brought out my old microscope to see what I could find and what I saw scared me. There are so many gnat eggs in here. There's actual clumps of them, i couldnt keep track when counting those in clumps. But i counted single ones i saw and I can get over 25 of them in the small view of my microscope, in a small very scattered and spread sample and that's what I counted before loosing track. All 6 samples were the same result. Meaning that the eggs are like this throughout the whole bag. There's just way to many plain eggs to have been laid there through the holes. More like they were in there since possessing. I would highly recommend your people look into this and find a way to fix it. I'm very unhappy with this. But I shall continue with the planting and I hope that this mix makes my plants 2 times as big like you say. I will use sand as you suggest but I surely hope you fix this or I'm never buying another thing from you and I'll make sure I spread that cause that many eggs in a bag is ridiculous and no one deserves to have gnats all over their house and killing their plants

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Potting Mix is by far the best around! I am a total newbie to gardening of any sorts. I purchased a bag of Miracle Grow Moisture Control Potting Mix to try out because of its great ability to retain moisture; and its ingredients make it so it is almost impossible to overwater. I am having awesome results with my patio tomato plants, that i have in 5 gallon buckets; and am also having great results growing some herbs with this mix. This stuff slowly feeds your plants and vegetables so you do not need to purchase more products to fertilize or feed your plants. I would highly recommend this product to anyone, no matter if you are a Master Gardner or a Newbie like myself. A+

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality productypcal of the Scotts Company I have used this product the last three years for my geranium plants I keep through the winter. I repot them all in new moisture control soil and results are much better than other products I have tried. The results are nice full plants and with the miracle-gro bloom buster we get a lot of bright blooms. My wife and I do about 50-75 plants every year and this improved our survival rate at near 100%.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic product for potted plants in drought areas my brother, a landscape architect, turned me onto Miracle Grow soils ages ago. I have since moved from the northeast to southeast and have had to change my way of gardening. This moisture control is perfect my all my plants propagating in pots to fill my still spotty areas. Thanks for a great product

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Use for Indoor Plants I have well over 40 house plants and about 20 in my office. I had bought two bags of this product - one for my home and one for my office. I couldn't understand why this winter, I had a problem with gnats in my house that I had never had before. I was told they were from the soil. After finally ridding them for the most part in my house, I started to notice them in my office. Today when I opened the bag in my office, it was filled with these nasty gnats. I would not recommend using this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moisture Control Potting Mix My patio looked like a mini version of our big Philadelphia flower show! I know that it was the result of my spring repotting tasks but also because I used the Moisture Control mix. I knew in the spring that there would be long stretches when i would be away from home and was concerned about my potted house plants and even patio tomatoes would dry out. I opted for the moisture control and couldn't be more pleased with the results! I am actually giving away some plants now that I have to move them all back in the house because the size of my showy plants are pushing me out of the sun room!!
