Horrible product. It does retain moisture. Too much in fact. We are in the middle of a drought. I watered my potted flowers only twice in the last two weeks and the soil is soggy with water laying on top of the soil. It just wont drain thru. My once beautiful flowers are shriveling up and dying from what I can only assume is root rot. What a lot of money to spend on a plant killer. Now I have to go out and buy 4 more bags of regular potty soil to replace all that I had and replace some of the flowers that are beyond saving! Not happy!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by RVA2016 MiracleGro Moisture Control is NOT a good choice for your Bloomers
I don't like the performance. Plants potted in this soil haven't performed (and some died). The regular MiracleGro or Organic MiracleGro are your best bets. I don't recommend Moisture Control AT ALL.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by John1901 Stay away from this stuff, it's a plant killer.
If you want to kill your plants, this stuff will do it. My wife and have been gardening for over 40 years, we are in our middle 60's. This stuff will not drain. It retains the water for an extremely long time. We have lost over $30.00 in plants this summer. We are not upset about the cost, we are upset over the dying plants... we don't kill plants. This stuff will look like it is completely dry, but when tested with a moisture meter we found that the roots are drowning in water. I guess it would be great for bog plants, but for plants where you water and expect the water to drain, it never happens. In order to save the plants we had to throw away the moisture control and re-pot with regular Miriacle Gro soil, which does an excellent job. I never in my life thought I would have anything bad to say about a Miracle Gro product, we could always count on Miracle Gro for a great product, however this stuff is a nightmare.

Love Miracle Grow Moisture Control for my container garden. As you can see from my zucchini it produces healthy plants.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by John33 Very poor potting soil
I have been a horticulturist for 40 years and after using several bags this I feel that my plants are the worst I have every grown. They look bad and as far as moisture control I have to water every single day. The product it self looks like ground up bark from a stump grinding machine. I should have known after first bag that it was inferior. Especially for the price. Also have 3 miracle-gro feeders that do not work.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lalala Horrible Potting Soil
Worst Potting Soil I ever bought.
Been growing houseplants for years and I am pro at it.
bought this Soil to replant some plants, a week later, I have MOLD growing on the top soil of my plants, I removed it etc.
Weeks went by, and I noticed my plants are not really growing anymore, could not figure out why ? Took one plant out of its pot and I noticed the soil is completely wet. Can only be a matter of time before the roots begin to die :(

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jeannet989 Killed over $20 in plants
I purchased this and planted tomatoes, etc. Many of my plants are withering up and dying. They are drying up which is definitely not due to lack of water. It is ridiculous to spend extra money for a product that is advertised to eliminate this problem only to have the plants die. Will not buy it in future.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cw2389 Gnat infested
I used this mix for some plants in our office and was so confused when we started getting gnats all over the office. I tried sprays and traps for weeks before using a layer of food-grade diatomaceous earth all over the surface of the soil. That finally killed them. I went to open a sealed bag of this mix to cover the top of the plants again, and 100s of the gnats flew out of the newly opened bag. I quickly shut it and threw it in the garbage. I spend over $150 on products trying to kill and trap these gnats, so this made me livid. I also couldn't water my trees while the gnats were there (because they thrive in damp soil) and my six 5 foot tall benjamina ficus died as a result. All in all, I'm out over $400 because of this potting mix. Do yourself a favor and buy something else!
