Can I use your organic garden soil in containers ... along with potting mix?

Asked by: Joe
This soil is for outdoor in-ground use only. The Nature's Care Organic Garden Soil can however be used in a raised bed when mixed with potting soil (50/50 mix of potting soil and garden soil/topsoil/Planting Soil).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LOVE IT I bought this soil when it was on sale a couple of weeks ago. I think it was two bags for $12.00 but I'm not sure. Anywho...best purchase EVER!!! I came back and loaded my car with them. Kinda bummed I didn't buy more cause now I'm out. My plants are thriving because of this soil. You know how you purchase some other brands and find tons of sticks? Not with this brand. I can't wait till they put it back on sale!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst soil I ever bought for raised vegetable bed It doesn't not retain water no matter what you do. I had to put mulch and water everyday to grow anything on this soil. Now I am slowly replacing it with other soils.

It was more like a bag of mulch than soil. The issue I now face is that my raised beds are growing mushrooms like mad. I had to remove most of what I added to blend with other soils and add more natural compost so that my vegetables would grow. I am fortunate I did not buy that many so I can consider this a ,essayed learn rather than a waste of money. The product is not that costly so I don't feel like I was taken advantage of, rather than just disappointed.

There were pieces of plastic (some hard pieces the size of a dime, and some thin plastic that varied in size from an inch to 4 inches) mixed in with the soil. Very disappointing. The soil itself looks good, but I haven't had it long enough to tell how well the plants will grow in it.

There seems to be some variation with this product depending on where and when you buy it. My first bag (review MileHighGuy) was very rich and moist with just a few small wood sticks. The second bag bought at a different Home Depot a week later was a bit drier with more wood particles mixed in, although not excessive. I have not encountered any plastic pieces in the soil content so far, but not denying those reviewers who have.

If you google "miraclegro fungus gnats" you will see that this is a major problem. The company is aware of the problem. They just tell you to put sand on your plant or repot it. I have an organic garden that I can't just repot. I will never use their products again.

I only use organic products in my garden but I was willing to give this soil a try because my wife used the potting soil with good result and it was a lot less costly than ones I have been using. So far I have not had any problems like some of the reviews. However, I do live in California the clean state and maybe other states don't have the same regulations when it comes to plants and soils.
