This makes it harmful for many applications where fertilizer is not needed/wanted. I can't find it on the website, but I just bought a 44 lb. block of pure peat (not the coco stuff) at Home Depot (in person) for $10. Much better deal than this stuff (that's not a typo above- 44 lb for $10!!) and no fertilizer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warning Carnivorous Plant Growers! When someone is looking for a soil amendment, you want that product, and not other stuff added to it. This product has Miracle-Gro fertilizer in it, and is not just peat moss. If I wanted a product with fertilizer in it, I would buy a regular potting soil mix. Miracle-Gro peat moss is the most common peat moss available nationwide in small bags. More people have killed their Venus Flytraps and other carnivorous plants such as pitcher plants and sundews, which are sometimes sold at Home Depot Stores, with this product than any other way when trying to transplant one of these plants. Currently, the only way to get peat moss without fertilizer in it is to buy a 2 cubic foot bale which is impractical for someone trying to transplant a small plant. Coir is not a substitute due to the high salt content. Miracle-Gro could instantly have a new set of customers if they offered a "Fertilizer-Free" product. If you're trying to transplant a Venus Flytrap, Don't use this Product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from LARGE INDOOR PLANTING PROJECT DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE OF MIRACLE GRO POTTING MIXES I am not a novice gardener, especially when it comes to houseplants. I worked on a large indoor planting project in December. After much time researching plants for the environment, lighting requirements, care, soil requirements, etc., I had to select from the Miracle Gro family as this is all they ever have offered at Lowe's or Home Depot (purchased at both places). I purchased and used the following: - Moisture Control Potting Mix - Sphagnum Peat Moss - African Violet Mix - Orchid Potting Mix The first 3 mixes all indelibly had the same issue in that they were INFESTED with FUNGUS GNATS and the FUNGUS that causes "DAMPING" on the plants (stems basically shrivel up at the soil line and until it falls over and dies). Had I opened the bag and discovered the gnats I would have taken them back right away (fungus gnats have a 28 day larvae cycle). Within a week or two of planting, the infestation made itself known and only got worse from there. 17 out of 17 plants have suffered the fungus gnat infestation and re-potting with newly purchased soil doesn't make any difference (ask me how I know).16 out of the 17 have suffered from damping off, and all have either died or suffered so much that they are on their way out. Note: I tried to make my own soil mix using Miracle Gro's Perlite, Vermiculite, and another medium and have had no luck in restoring these plants. Even their vermiculite is lousy and nothing like the vermiculite I used to get years ago. This was a LARGE project and a lot of money was invested in the plants and these horrible soils all for nothing. The plants are stressed to the point of death or have died. The orchid mix was so large and coarse that the orchid died in no time, the wood chunks were huge and not moderately sized such as you see in most pre-potted orchids. I seriously fault Miracle Gro for their POOR QUALITY and SELECTION of so-called soils. I WILL NOT be buying anything of theirs ever again. People should not have to COOK their soil or shock treat it with insecticides just to have normal houseplants. I also fault Home Depot and Lowe's both for having NOTHING BUT this BRAND available for purchase in the varying mediums.
