Customer Questions & Answers

I just bought one, it won't stay lit!

When I hold the knob, it comes on, i hold it for 30-40 seconds and a few times even longer. It cuts right back off. It won't stay on. Am I doing something wrong or is it messed up? I really don't want to take it apart and return it....

I have three of these and have the same issue off and on. I recently talked with a technician while looking for thermocouple replacements and he gave me the greatest piece of technical advice I have ever been given. He said "It is not the thermocouple, it is the Anti-tilt switch." He advised me to disconnect the two wires from the switch and connect them together. I did this to one of them and found the problem to be solved. I have now done all three and each of them will light and stay lit within 5-7 seconds. I had already tried the suggestion of cleaning the thermocouple probe and it changed nothing. This modification solved all of the issues.

I see the description says this heater comes with a cover. Is this true? What is the quality of the cover?

Asked by: Steve
Only for the top. It seems like the quality is reasonable. It is hard to get on because of the eight. You have to be tall or use a stool or ladder to put it on.

I bought this heater Dec. 2014 and assemble was easy and the heater worked great. I stored it in my garage in March of 2015 after removing the wieghted base and reflector. in Dec of 2015 I reassembled the heater and it worked great. After the same procedure this year, Dec 2016, the heater will not stay lit. I have tried lighting it and holding the button in many times...and for long periods ( like one minute, and even three minutes) and it will not stay lit. I think the internal valve is stuck, or the thermal thing is shot. I think I need to take it to a propane dealer for service. Does anyone have a better suggestion?

I like the new lighting system and the cover is much better with the bigger zipper. The tilting top is what makes this so good. Now I can direct the heat in one direction and it is warmer that way. And putting it upwind also helps

Being that it's 89 pounds I dropped it off at there house and put it together there. Having read the other reviews I checked it carefully when unboxing. It was packed well and no damage to any of the parts. Contrary to other reviews it came with a set of directions and inventory list. Assembly went well, as usual I hand started and tightened all fasteners before using tools. 7/16 wrench covers all but three fasteners which are 5/8. I used a combination wrench - open end/ratchet box. which worked well on almost every fastener. A regular ratchet/socket would have been good in some tighter spots. To attach the regulator to the hose you need to wrenches, I used a 3/4 and channel locks. The only problems I encountered were where the to tubes join were a little too tight used a pair of pliers to bend the flange on the end of the upper section until it was no longer flared out (goes inside the lower section). The heat shield sections have some sharp edges. As it is a present I only test ran it for 15 minutes. Following the directions. It lighted on the first try and functioned well. This met or exceeded all of my expectations. definitely buy this model again.

Forget about any warrenty or customer service from the manufacture. Problem is a cheap thermocouple thar fails quickly as many other reviewers found. Can not get replacement parts. The heater actually did great before failing. The tilting top directs heat making it as effective as more expensive, higher BTU heaters. I like this feature which is hard to find so I decided to try to engineer a replacement for the thermocouple rather than returning the unit to Home Depot. So far no luck as the fittings are not common or standard size.
