Customer Questions & Answers

I made a styrofoam rock wall for my aquatic turtles aquareum I used three coats of cement and it looks awesome

I just need a cealant so I got me mod podge because that's all I can afford, is it safe for my turtles and will it work?
Asked by: Hector
It's non-toxic so I think your turtles would be fine. And as long as you let it thoroughly dry (15-20 minutes between coats) it should be fine in your aquarium.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff Having used regular glue in the past, doing a craft with Modge podge was a welcome change. First of all you only need the smallest amount to complete your work, which makes it a great value. It also goes on in a very smooth layer, and dries quickly. It's white and dries clear. I made seasonal blocks that can be used all year long, and the Modge Podge let me easily adhere the decorative paper to the wood. I applied the glue using a sponge brush. That method worked well, with no excess spillage. 2 months later, there is no peeling, and the glue is holding well. I would recommend this glue over your standard glue or glue stick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Uses for Many Projects My wife, a Kindergarden teacher, recently used Mod Podge for a classroom project. She uses Mod Podge often, always with good results, and for this particular project she used glossy Mod Podge to apply scrapbook paper to some cheap plastic plates. Overall, the paper adhered well but there are several wrinkles and white “clumps” where the Mod Podge dried too thick. This is likely not an issue with the product but rather the use of thick paper and a cheap applicator sponge brush that made it difficult to spread and smooth out the Mod Podge. Also, the edge of the plates curved up and the product seemed to pool at the bottom of the curve. The other projects where she has used Mod Podge were either a flat surface or used fabric, both of which allow for a smoother bubble-free application. There are endless options for using this product, but for the best results you will want to ensure you give proper consideration of your time frame for application, the tools you will use, and the materials selected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooths out rough edges I had a soap dispenser that was made with a bunch of glass square tiles glued to the bottle for decoration. It was not a problem at first, but the original grouting must have started to wear away, as the edges of the tiles became exposed. After a few coats of Mod Podge, the dispenser was once again safe for the grandkids to handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mod Podge Not Just For Craft Or Art Projects Seems that Mod Podge has been around forever but there are lots of uses for this other than art or craft projects. Have you ever needed to make a small batch of gloss touch up paint and only had flat wall paint? Use a little of gloss Mod Podge in the paint and you have semi-gloss. Need a small amount of tile grout and want it stronger than standard, use about 50% Mod Podge in the water and you have super strong grout that won't crack as easy or chip out. Need to tack down a corner of curled wall paper, use a bit of Mod Podge and you have a quick permanent fix that will stay up but it will come off with a little steam when you are ready to re-paper the wall. Or how about cracks that keep coming back in sheet rock or wall plaster. Mix 75% Mod Podge 25% water into your dry patching mud and your cracks won't come back as fast if ever. Even if you're using it for very unique crafts like my wife's decorated Goose and Rhea eggs to get a very glossy top coat. The uses are endless really endless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Craft Glue and Sealer I got this to glue and seal a puzzle on the advise of a friend. Using a paint brush, I spread it on making sure to get it into the puzzle cracks and cover it with a light coat and allow it to dry and then add another coat to it to give it more stability being careful not to leave brush streaks. This goes on white but when it dries it came out clear and is quite sturdy to hang up. To clean your brush and any mess, simply use soap and water. Definitely recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love to Mod Podge Mod Podge 16-oz Gloss Decoupage Glue Are you a crafty person? I am. This is a great product for adding a finish to your creations. This is a shinny finish. I made some shopkins with my daughters. See the picutures. One of the creatures is a cheese cake guy and the other is a candy wrapper guy. My girls loved it. I used both the shinny finish and matte finish on these creatures. The great thing about Mod Podge is it can be a glue or a sealer. You can see the shine well in the cheese cake.
