No rust, no problems loading. I use a single starter cube from Weber rather than newspaper. Have used to many times over the last month and the swinging charcoal holder moves easily. Make sure you store it where it will not get wet and you won't have rust issues.

Enamel coating damaged after single use which then caused rusting. Would not recommend.

We have bought a few of these charcoal starters and we use them every time we BBQ large or small.
They last a long time and this is the perfect size for our mini BBQ. Thanks for making it EASY to buy and EASY to pick up. Much appreciated.

Like the review above I should have paid closer attention to the engineering on this thing. It is the point for the coals to fall out when you lift, but its impossible to make the slightest adjustment or add more newspaper underneath without the coals completely falling out. There should at least be some catch latch to prevent the all out coal release.
Spend a few dollars more and go with a different brand.

Have used the entire summer without one problem. The coating came off first time but really didn't phase me. Still works great for the money. Hint, instead of bunching up newspaper I just sit mine on the burner part of my gas grill. Works great every time.

I guess I should have looked at this a bit closer when I bought it. You can't lift it up because all the charcoal falls out. I know that the point, but it's hard to load, and will only work for a flat grill, not an offset smoker. Don't waste you time or money on this thing, just buy a normal one. I will be taking this back today.
