This unit utilizes electronic ignition. The Department of Energy (DOE) guidelines changed a few years ago. Basically the new standards put standing pilot out of existence. There may be certain sub category based on BTU output or application that were grandfathered but I don't know of any. Yes it can. If you were to purchase this unit now. The appropriate conversion kit would be a Modine 28049. It can be ordered at any Home Depot and the cost is $50. Home Depot sells the next size down, the 150,000 BTU unit in propane. The online SKU is 205965414. Further if you need the 175,000 BTU unit and want it to come from the factory as Propane. Again any Home Depot can order that for you. It will Read More
Yes it can. If you were to purchase this unit now. The appropriate conversion kit would be a Modine 28049. It can be ordered at any Home Depot and the cost is $50. Home Depot sells the next size down, the 150,000 BTU unit in propane. The online SKU is 205965414. Further if you need the 175,000 BTU unit and want it to come from the factory as Propane. Again any Home Depot can order that for you. It will take 2-4 weeks to be made and would be a model number PDP175AE0185SBAN. This would save you the cost of the kit and the effort to convert.
