Customer Questions & Answers

crackle sound

I had this Mohawk floor floor installed by a contractor. After a few months we started to hear a crackle sound, like walking on thin ice. It seems to be more noticeable in areas where there is more traffic use. The flooring was installed over 15lb felt and is stapled on top of the tongue. It was new construction over OSB sub-floor, all to code. I suspect the floor was not compressed while stapling and the flooring is moving on the staples. Just thinking, must the flooring be compressed (stood on) during stapling? Thanks
