Wherever you spend most of your time is where it should go or close to the air intake. It states it CAN cover a 2500sqft home, but i think 1500-1800 is more ideal without having to refill it 4 times a day. Also, this does not require installation. You take it out of the box, place it where you want it, add water to the tank and press your desired fan speed and humidity level. Very easy to setup. This Read More

If your home meets the square footage criteria, this would be suitable for a two story home. I would recommend placing downstairs on a level surface away from heat exchange.

It's neither. This unit is an evaporative type, the same as the more expensive whole house humidifiers.

Answer:
I have it on the first floor of my two story home, home is 1700sqft, near the air intake for the furnace. I have to fill this unit once in the morning and once at night. I have noticed less static throughout home and skin is not as dry. If you live in a cold climate, you will most likely have to increase the temp in the home since the higher humidity makes it feel cooler in the home.

Hmm, not sure if people are living on the 2nd floor. I used in a 2-story home but my folks are on the 1st floor. Does well in the 1800sq ft.

If the square footage listed will accommodate your home, placing on the lower level will provide the most humidification for both areas.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by form does not follow function The unit is very attractive but I agree with a commenter that the water tank is very awkward and a pain to fill, it makes for drips. I'm tired of having to hold it upright while filling and the plastic is too dark to really see the level of water. It is fairly quiet compared to my old Holmes humidifier. I'm not sold on the sq. footage this is supposed to humidify, but according to instructions this should go next to a cold air return which i can't do. Maybe that's why the claim is made. My house is only 1000sq. ft. so it works well. I have an old humidity/temp indicator and the humidity on that shows 20% but the display on this unit shows 40%. Don't know what to make of that either. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase for older adults Bought this for my Senior parents. Easy to use, few buttons, and quiet. Only thing I wish was for an easier way to know when the tank is filled. For an older Adult it may be difficult to tell when the tank is full and the closure is tight. I suggested to my Dad to fill, close and flip upright over the sink - just in case of spillage. January 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nothing's perfect, but this is close. It spews out a lot of water in my 1000' apt, so it's obviously doing a good and much-needed job. 'Twould be better if it were easier to refill (the round top...others have mentioned this), but it looks good and (at low speed) doesn't make any noise at all. But then, I'm hard of hearing and wouldn't notice if it did. January 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the money! Did a lot of shopping around and comparing before I bought this, couldn't find a unit like this for under a hundred dollars anywhere. Would've given it five stars if it weren't for the fact that the built in humidistat is very inaccurate. January 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it's suppossed to Fan has 3 settings and is acceptably quiet on the lowest setting but the other 2 (medium&high) are very loud and I never use them due to that. Also, like others have stated, the refill tank is a bit tricky to hold while filling and handling to place back into the humidifier. Other than those two things, the thing is great and at the price, it can't be beat. January 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy with product : ) Very happy with product. It is not loud when running and is easy to fill with water. Does a great job humidifying the the air. The replacement filter is a bit costly, though. January 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Finally One That Doesn't Leak I bought 3 other brands of humidifiers. I had to return them all because they all leaked. I found this one and thought I'd give it a try. It was a wonderful purchase. It runs very quiet. Best of all it doesn't leak. The shape is kind of odd and it looks out of place in my living room. Other than that I think this was a really good purchase. January 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by works great It works great in the large open floor plan area of my house. It could be a little quieter, but that would not stop me from buying it or recommending it. January 5, 2016
