How do I get rid of white marks left by the recommended mat for the bottom of the sink bowl?

I put clear plastic mats in the bottom of the sink as recommended by the care directions to protect the bottom and when I pulled them up there is a white mark on the entire bottom of each sink with just the hole areas in the mat remaining black. I can't get it off. Just installed this with a kitchen remodel 2 weeks ago. Very upsetting.

We were putting things up in our newly remodeled kitchen and I had stuff I wanted washed before going in to the new cabinets. I had hot soapy water in the sink for about 3 hours and when I let the water there is a whitish mark that goes from where the water level was to the bottom of the sink. I have tried Barkeepers Friend soft scrub and even a small amount of CLR for kitchen. it did not come out. What caused this and how do I get rid of it??? HELP!!!

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 403 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Second try was a winner! The sink it self is wonderful, great beauty, function, easy to instal. December 11, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by The first time The sink was supposed to be resistant to scratches but the very first time I washed the roaster pan it got marked up. December 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely disappointed I should have listened to the reviews. The sink came with two completely cracked corners. Also, there are entire sides of the sink that are rough, and not properly sanded. The packaging is terrible for shipping an item. They shipped in the same cardboard box you'd find in the store. 1/4 inch or cardboard protecting the corners during shipment, is ridiculous. The color is also much lighter than one would expect for Espresso. It looks more like the "cocoa" color they offer. I wish I could post pictures. I can't understand why homedepot.com continues to offer a product that is clearly subpar. Now we have to deal with finding another sink, before our granite is installed. January 30, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not Satisfied Sink has developed a "stress" crack in the lower left part of the sink. It also has a larger chip in that area that I did not notice prior to having it installed. I am very disappointed with this product. Would not recommend. July 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice This sink was purchased in conjunction with a Silestone Quartz countertop and it worked very well. Satisfied. July 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful, Stylish, But not true to color The mocha finish is beautiful and matches perfectly with my granite countertops and bronze faucet. I couldn't afford an under mount sink but this is just as good because, unlike a stainless steel drop in sink, acts as another beautiful fixture in my kitchen. It's very durable and has a lot of depth, so you can't see the dirty dishes in there for a while ;) definitely a winner for the price!! I'd buy it again if I had the choice. The only thing I would say is that the mocha color appears much lighter in person than in this photo. I was disappointed at first but it turned out to still look amazing! If you're looking for a color that precisely matches the color of oil rubbed bronze finishes in your kitchen, perhaps the espresso finish would be a little darker. July 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I've heard the granite composite sinks are great, but not this one. We bought this sink to replace a stainless steel counter top that the build installed 20 years ago. The sink looked great when it was first installed. Within a week we found a crack in the bowl of the sink. Looks like something may have fallen a little hard and caused the spider crack that grew larger during the next three weeks. After three weeks, another crack appeared in the other bowl. My daughter said dropped a bowl about six inches into the sink that caused the crack. After looking at the other sinks at Home Depot, I realized that this sink is not 100% composite granite. Most of the sink is fiberglass with an 1/8 inch layer of granite composite. The cracking is thin layer of composite failing. I took photos of the crack to the Home Depot service desk. They offered to refund the price of the sink, which we put towards a Kohler cast iron sink. March 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! Replaced a stainless sink put in by our builder. It was a cheap low grade stainless that always looked dirty. This make kitchen look much better. March 16, 2016
