Customer Questions & Answers

that disc is relevant for all American Standard faucets

Asked by: Anonymous
No. There are dozens of valve stems for American Standard fixtures. You need to determine what model of fixture you have. Big box hardware stores generally have a book by a third party manufacturer of parts such as Danco. Bring the stem in with you and see if you can match it. Alternatively, bring the stem and a picture of the fixture to a plumbing supply company. If there is no manufacturer's name on the fixture, common on cheap fixtures, replacing a stem can be very difficult or impossible. This stem comes without directions, but the same stem works for both hot and cold. There is a clip and plate on top of the stem that must be removed and replaced to match the stem you are replacing if it does not match.

I purchased Cartridge 957164-0070A from a local plumbing supply. It looks identical to my old cartridge which began leaking. However, new cartridge turns the water on by moving counter clockwise, while the old one turned the water on going clockwise.

In order for us to better assist you, we will need your faucet model number , To find your model number, the model number should be located on your receipt, installation instructions, or information book which came with your model. If you are not sure of your model or series number, then you will need to look on our American Standard website at Look under the Kitchen Faucets or Bathroom Faucets and find the one that identifies your model (note the color may be different). Double click on the small picture, and it will expand into a larger one. Scroll down on the left-hand side and under the DOWNLOADS tab should be spec sheets, installation instructions or a repair parts diagram. Click on one of these files and look for the model or series number at the top of the page. If your model has several, just choose the first four-digit number.

Please contact our customer care line at 800-442-1902. We will probably need a picture of the faucet so we can identify it and one of the reps can help you with that.

I see the 951764-0070A Cartridge is used in both 0.5 gpm and 1.5 gpm models of the Monterrey faucet. How do you change between the two flow rates?

Asked by: Mark S
You purchase the specific faucet which whatever gpm you need.

Customer Reviews

Monterrey Faucet Cartridge is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent economical replacement Found this cartridge to replace an A/S cartridge that was shot. A/S told me that a replacement was not available, mostly because they did not to honor their "lifetime" faucet warranty. But, after a little research, and being willing to take a chance, my faucet is good as new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent price, especially if picked up in store. Was the correct part for an American Standard 8340.235 and .243 series utility sink fixture, which is no longer being manufactured. Fortunately, this cartridge is still being used in some current model sink fixtures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hot vs. cold There is a difference between hot and cold cartridges. There was only one cartridge on the shelf. When I installed it on the cold side, the only way to turn on the water is backwards! The one I bought should go on the hot side. There's nothing on the package I saw that makes the determination between hot and cold. Make sure you get the right one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product, good price, no instructions Product received as advertised. No instructions included, and would be helpful for diy folks that are not plumbers.
