Answer:
You could do that if the brackets are set at the 72 inch and the rods can support ouside to the 144, otherwise you will need a separate set of brackets to support the outside edges at 144 inches. kit comes with 3 brackets, one for each end and one for the center of the run.

I need a double rod system that only needs two mounting brackets, most require 3. My window is 107" and is very tall. Will this product work?

My window goes right up against the wall, so the curtain needs to do so, also. Can the end detail (the ball) be removed?

It arrived in good condition. I wanted to like this product. It looks nice enough. I like that it has set screws in the brackets. Those brackets are why this is a two star review instead of a 1 star review (even if the mounting fastener holes need more clearance from the arm of the bracket, but I digress). Here is the main problem: This product claims to extend to 144". That is true, but the three-piece telescoping tubes have something like an inch of overlap when extended to that point, rendering the entire span useless due to instability. I installed the product over a 132" span and had a hard time getting the rod mounted in the outside brackets (it fell apart a few times before I got the middle segment centered). Over a 132" span this product did not stand a chance against a slight breeze, let alone little kids and pets. With only a few inches of overlap allowed to each telescoping segment there was minimal stability to be had even with those lovely set screws. At this point in the installation I also discovered that the large diameter rod was slightly shorter than the small diameter rod, and therefore even less well suited to its job. So, I put it all back in a box and will try to return it ASAP as it is unfit for the application I intended. Some suggested improvements would be the addition of a fourth bracket for long runs and adding 12" to the center segments of the telescoping rods. Failing that, at least limit the claimed span to 120", because that is about what this product is capable of. If you need it for a shorter run you might be in luck- it's cheaply made but serviceable if you anchor it well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great double rod set Due to construction quality of building, I had to buy shorter screws and cut the drywall anchors, but the product holds up well. It accommodated what I needed/wanted in spite of inferior building construction

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Attractive, but not functional Don't waste your time! Although attractive, these are not functional. I ordered 6 for my home. The screws will only go in the wall about 1/3 of the way before hitting the curved portion of the rod. Clearly no quality control was performed. I returned them to the store for a refund.

Winner, at the price it is a bargain compared to what I could make and install myself. The hardware worked great, screws included. I did not use the extension nor the middle support bracket as my window was only 6' wide so total bar length is 82". Looks good also.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good curtain rod Nice and light, easy to install. Only reason I didn't give 4 stars is that the rods are close together and with grommet style curtains it is harder to open and close just the front curtain.
