1-acre Independence Mosquito Trap is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't Work I brought the unit home and the instructions and assembly were very easy to follow. Everything was working fine for about a day and a half. Then I noticed it started to have a slow red blinking light. I looked up the troubleshooting codes and followed the directions (new purged tank, purged the line). This worked but again after about a day of running the unit went into the same fault. That was it for me. At nearly $600 I expect the thing to work with minimal interaction on my part. Those CO2 cartridges aren't cheap and I wasn't about to blow through one of those every couple of days just to keep this thing running.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk, 3rd one to fail in a year We purchased our original Patriot from Home Depot, after 2 seasons it stopped working. Initially it would take several attempts and air cartridges to start, eventually it just stopped working altogether. We were out of warranty so decided to just buy a new one, we opted for the higher priced but cordless Independence model. What a piece of junk, during the first season it commonly would not start after warming up. We constantly fed it the air cartridges to clear it out, the cartridges are quite expensive. Usually after 2-3 cartridges it would start. After one season it stopped working, it would just continue to warm up but never start. We went back to Home Depot and a nice manager exchanged it for us for another Independence model. Now the new one, within one season, doesn't power on at all. We've checked with fresh batteries and no go. I wish a competing company would make these as what we bought was junk and a waste of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice This unit works great. I previously had a Patriot but upgraded to get a machine without a cord. I set it up, connected the gas and pushed the on button. It fired up and ran until out of gas. Lots of bugs will never bite me. This is a great unit. I originally bought one to avoid the West Nile virus thing. 10 plus years later I am vindicated.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst model ever should discontinue and go back to the drawing board. Do not purchase this product. I've owned a Mosquito Magnet liberty for many years and that bad larry caught softball size worth of mosquito every month. Well my liberty died after many years of great mosquito rate. So bought this setup was a breeze but this Independence only caught about 25 mosquitoes in about i think 40 days. Then poof died. Home Depot was great in allowing the return even though as every knows Mosquito Magnet says don't return to the store. Funny thing was the light code that this was omitting didn't even match any online. So went back and purchased a corded patriot version. After only one night this has caught more mosquitoes than the independence. Oh also trap placement was in the same place I always had it.. So stay away from the battery powered versions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2 units JUNK I lived in South America and had a friend buy one in USA at Home Depot. Brought it to our country home along the river. Followed read instructions. All lights did as they should. Never cought a bug! Believe me, there were plenty to catch! Went thru procedure several times, NEVER A BUG IN THE NET. Brought it back to States with me last year. Still didn't work. Found a used one and figured mine was just a fluke. Likewise, won';t work! Buy the competition! Wrote for Mos.Magnet web site help, no response.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fantastic when it works, garbage once it stops The mosquito magnet started catching mosquitos and no-see-ums from the first day we started it up. It was phenomenal and really reduced the number of flying insects in our backyard, making it possible to enjoy a meal outside again. I maintained it as recommended - the propane tank lasted just over 2 weeks - but after a month and a half it stopped working. Customer service said that it would need to be sent in for repair. I worry about the durability of this machine and while i love it when it works, i think it's far too expensive not to last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS FIRST Ive read all the bad reviews for this unit, so I had to write a review to put some people at ease. I can tell you that Ive owned the Liberty unit which worked great except I hated having to have the extension cord to run the unit. We purchased the Independence unit last year, and have LOVED this unit also! If you follow ALL INSTRUCTIONS then you should have no problems catching mosquitos, deer flies, horse flies, and other pests. I have a big yard, and a swimming pool and these units have been LIFE SAVERS for being outside! I can not imagine not having one of these for the summers! A couple of quick tips for making sure that your unit works properly are 1.) Place the unit in the correct section of your yard for your section of the country (common wind directions are different in certain parts of the country). 2.) Make sure you do not have the unit in a direct path of any sprinkler, or any irrigation system that will contact the unit. If you've gotten a lot of rain, you may have to purge the system regularly. This is not the unit malfuctioning. It is a device after all that runs on partial electronics. 3.) Replace your net when the net becomes full. When all is said and done, this unit works as advertised, and is a necessity where I live! I love mine! And I think you will too! Only Con is price...
