Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Windingdown Definitely works for what I needed for
I have several big baskets of various staghorn fern's. Every year I need to add bags of moss that washes away or the Wild birds take it for their nests. This is definitely not as long a fibers as I have gotten like a decade ago but it works. The price isn't bad either. Secret is open the top and fill the bag up with water pressing down the Moss at the same time this way it will already be wet and it's easier to work with and no dust or small pieces go flying.

This can be hard to find. Even the local garden center didn't carry it. I was very pleased to find it online at the Homedepot.com but sadly they wouldn't ship it so I went to the store to pick it up. What made me really happy was that the online inventory was so accurate. It said there were three bags at this store and there were three bags sitting there. Though I was tempted to buy them all, I didn't need that much of it (and there's a lot in the bag.) I'm going to use it for some orchids and also for air-layering. As for the review that said it was only small pieces with lots of debris, I didn't find this to be the case.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jethro TINY BAG. MISLABELED.
I searched everywhere for this giant 432 cubic inch bag (that's 7.5 cuft). It doesnt exist. I found the tiny "325 square inch" bag. I guess you could cover 325 inches if you spread it thin as paper.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Suz86 Was hoping for better quality, not for orchids
I was hoping for this to be a better product. I wanted to try this out cause I am on a tight budget and was hoping it would be like the other sphagnum moss I have got from other companies. I was not totally impressed. It was small pieces mixed in with twigs, grass and vines. I was hoping for just dried sphagnum moss that looked more lively and maybe a bit longer strands. Would be good for mulch or something else. Possibly for some plants that need swamp like conditions that would not mind the twigs. Not sure if I would want to use this for orchids (my intent for use) because of other matter that could decay. Does retain water well

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Shopper Contains straw, roots and grass.
This product claims to be 100% organic sphagnum moss. My package contained straw, a long root, and many blades of dried grass. the grass is entwined with the moss thus making it difficult to separate.

I originally bought 5 of these little bags for my starter blueberry plants. At the time it worked and met my needs. I went to HD recently and found the huge bail of peat moss outside for ten bucks. This filled 3 16in pots for my blueberries easily, with some left over for my other plants that need a more acidic soil base.
If you only need a tiny amount, this bag may be okay, but the other brand right next to it is moist and fine, while this bag is dry, hard and more course. I won't be buying this brand again as for the cost, and quality.
If you need course/dry moss this will work- if you need fine moist moss- go with another brand.

Bought this to use on my house plants to keep the moisture in the soil. I either over-water or under-water; with the moss I don't water until the moss gets dry which reminds me to check the soil under it before watering the plant.

HAS been very good in the past but these two bags were full of foot long grass, weed leaves, and old cranberry vines, roots and all. (I'm from cranberry country in NJ). Required a 1 hour sort to get most of it out. Doesn't hurt quality but sure doesn't look good.
