Motsenblockers #4 or #5

I am trying to remove an eggshell latex paint from a wood frame for a door so I can stain it. Should I use Motsenblockers #4 or #5? What's the difference?
Asked by: Tom
Motsenbocker's Lift Off Latex Paint Remover is recommended for removing Latex/Water-Based paints. You can also use Motsenbocker's Lift Off Paint & Varnish Remover, which is a gel formulation that you can brush on; let it set for three-minutes and scrape off the unwanted paint. As a reminder, these paint removers don't "melt the paint" like other removers. They break the bond between the paint and the surface. Even though you won't see "bubbling", the removers are working.

Whats the best way to apply to remove paint from a metal railing?

Whats the best way to apply to remove paint from a metal railing?
Asked by: BB
This response is based on the impression that you are attempting to remove spray paint on an unpainted, or factory-finished metal surface. If the unwanted paint is overspray, or a mistake on a metal railing that hasn't been painted, or is factory finished, you can spray Motsenbocker's Lift Off Spray Paint Remover on to a cloth towel and rub the metal railing to break lose the paint. You can repeat this process until the unwanted paint is removed.

Is this product biodegradable?

Asked by: Ac
Yes, this product is biodegradable. It is a water-based formulation that breaks the molecular bond between the paint and the surface, which keeps the paint intact. The paint is not melted, nor does it change its composition. This allows the product to be inert/safe for the user, environment and surfaces to which it is applied. This product received Invention of the Year Award for its formulation and efficacy.

Will this product get spray paint off of a concrete sidewalk?

There is grafitti sprayed on the sidewalk. Goof Off didn't help. power washing either.
Asked by: cmb
Motsenbocker's Lift Off Spray Paint & Graffiti Remover can remove spray paint from sidewalks and brick Surfaces. Since this is a porous surface, the spray paint has been absorbed by the concrete. This may require a couple of applications. Apply Lift Off Spray Paint & Graffiti Remover directly on to the spray paint; let it set for upward of 60 seconds. We recommend you use a wire brush to help agitate the paint and break the bond. If you have a high pressure water system, do that last, spraying the area at 1,200 psi.

1 gal. #4 Spray Paint Graffiti Remover is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Stuff! Highly Recommend! I bought Mostenbocker's Graffiti Remover originally to remove some graffiti that was sprayed at the lake on some granite boulders. I was so impressed with the way it worked on the porous surface of the rocks! I sprayed it on, waited about five minutes and scrubbed with a little scrub brush and repeated a few times then rinsed with water (not a power washer). The graffiti just washed away. Mostenbocker's is non-toxic and biodegradable which was perfect for the lake setting. I've also used it around my little town when taggers have tagged a building both on glass and cement block. On the glass I sprayed waited maybe two minutes and wiped off with a rag. On the cement block, I used a brush like I had on the granite at the lake and rinsed and it off it came. I've tried it also on metal signs and metal utility boxes that had paint or permanent marker tags and the tags just wiped off. I order the gallon size on-line and refill my spray bottle to save money. I have it delivered to the store to save shipping costs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Mild - Works Well on "Paint Pens" I'm cleaning graffiti off street signs, poles, and utility boxes. I use several different types of graffiti removers, but this is the one I always try first, since it's so mild. With most of the paint pens that taggers are using these days, one spray of this and it will wipe off with a paper towel. For the tougher ones I use a green scrubber pad. It isn't very good on spray paint that's been up for an extended period of time. For that I move up the caustic scale to something a bit stronger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!!!! I used this product on my vintage Volkswagen to strip away two layers of primer to expose the original paint. I was able to leave the product on for a good amount of time and scrape the primer off without damaging the original paint. Buy it in the gallon size containers and transfer it to a smaller spray bottle. The best stuff on the market in my opinion!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Removed dried spray paint off concrete Removed dried spray paint, dirt and mildew off of concrete. Spray on small area, wait 3 minutes, then scub very hard with a wire brush. Hose off with good water pressure. Works great, and isn't super stinky!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, something that works! For 3 years we tried to find a product that would remove paint but NOT damage plastic, lexan, screen-printed decals on Vending machines. After trying over 3 dozen products we found Lift Off #4. This is a superb product. It does not damage signage, plastic, paint, metal, decals, etc. SUGGESTIONS: -Use when surface is warm, NOT HOT, -Let the chemical do the work; 1. Brush it on. Wait 5 minutes. 2. Brush on a second coat. Wait 5 minutes. 3. SPRAY on the liquid version of #4 4. Using whatever scrubber or razor blade you use, rub off the paint. Works every time on every vending machine we have done! HIGHLY RECCOMEND

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WHY IN THE HECK DO I HAVE TO WAIT 7 DAYS FOR A ONE GALLON JUG????? HOME DEPOT USED TO CARRY ONE GALLON JUGS OF THIS PRODUCT. THE COST $20.00+. NOW HOME DEPOT STOCKS ONLY 22 OUNCE SPRAY BOTTLES FOR 8.00 +. SO EITHER YOU PAY 6 TIMES MORE FOR A LITTLE SPRAY BOTTLE OR BUY THE GALLON SIZE. BUT NOW YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR SEVEN DAYS BECAUSE LOWES AND HOME DEPOT DO NOT STOCK IT. THE MANUFACTURER MAKES AND SELLS IT BY THE GALLON!!!! THE PRODUCT WORKS GREAT BUT NEXT TIME IT WON"T BE WORTH THE HASSLE. SO I WON'T BE BUYING IT ANYMORE. WHEN YOU NEED THE CLEANER CAUSE YOU RAN OUT ,YOU NEED THEN WHILE THE GRAFFITI IS FRESH. NOT SEVEN FROM THEN. AND FINANCIALLY IT WOULD PRETTY STUPID TO PAY 6 TIMES THE COST FOR THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT. IT IS NOT LIKE HOME DEPOT DOES NOT HAVE THE ROOM TO KEEP TWO CASES ON HAND.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really did work! Local frustrated artist sprayed about 250 sq. ft. of paint on the side of my metal building. Bought a couple of quarts of Graffiti Remover (Lift Off #4). Worked as advertised. It breaks the bond between new and old paint. Not fast but very effective. Let the product work and remove with paper towels instead of scraping. Ordered 2 gallons to finish the job. Police Department did not know of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Removed graffiti on metal roll away door I recentl got tagged on my metal roll away garage door in the city. This stuff works! You have to put some elbow into it and do it a few times but it does work. As a matter of fact my outer door looked cleaner after. Leaving in on for a few minutes and then gently brushing really helps. That's why I got the larger version so that I had a supply because you do tend to get through one of the regular bottles in one use
