I love this box. I had one from 5 years ago and the 6 zones is awesome. I put up 4000 lights all into this thing and some floodlights as well shinning on the house. I have it plugged into a remote controlled timer so it turns on for 4 hrs starting when it gets dark. Someone online talked about splitting the speaker wires to add an fm transmitter. I spent 450 dollars on lights and MANY extension cords. Talk of the community. Go for it!

If you want a Christmas lightshow, this is THE one to buy. Fantastic overall lighting effect, nice music, and complete reliability. If you don't want to pay $500+ for light-o-rama, you can't go wrong here. They've been around forever, the father of all lightshows. Don't settle for ok, buy the best. This one performs better than the wireless version because all power cords are connected directly to the unit, not to wireless receivers. Don't fall for the "it worked for 3 days and broke". That is caused by overloading the outlets. Beware of that.

Very nice christmas lights controller, with one setback. We are using ours to run a 10FT mega tree in the middle of our front yard. I covered the Mr. Christmas with a sterilite storage container to keep rain, snow, and most of the moisture out of the controller. When we first tried the unit, it was cool out, and it ran perfectly. When we turned it back on a few weeks later, it was freezing, and the controller didn't turn on when power was given to it. I unplugged it, and plugged it back in, and it turned on, but it malfunctioned. It would play the christmas songs at about three times the speed as normal, and at a very high pitch. I unplugged it, and waited til tomorrow. When power was given to it, it ran perfectly, with no hiccups. In conclusion, this unit is sensitive to temperatures below 30 degrees F.

Very happy with the Mr. christmas. Highly recommend it ! The lights are dancing and love setting it up, its so easy and fun. Makes anyones Christmas lights so much more to see and enjoy. I even go outside and just watch it on occasions. The volume control on the speaker is awesome, I can mute it or turn it up, passing people can hear it when I want them too. It is made of plastic and wish it was heavier built but I think will last a long time. Songs do play very clear and nice. Probably would suggest buying the next model up and I believe you can add your own music then, maybe I will get it next year but this is a good one and very nice for the price.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by brightesthouseontheblock A simple effective starter option to make lights dance to music
I used this machine for the lights on my Christmas tree in the living room. It was easy to set up. The main weakness I found to this product is that it will not accept an alternate input source for music. I can not use another stereo or iPOD to provide a greater selection of music. For an indoor tree this is not that big of an issue. There are times that music is not wanted, in which case I can set the lights to solid on or random blink. However the limited selection of music can get boring on those rare occasions when I ran the system for multiple hours (during a party) with the lights dancing to the music.
I will be looking at lightorama equipment for my outdoor display in 2012.

This is better than the wireless as you have six channels instead of four. I used this last year and it performed excellent. Neighbors and passers would stop and get out to watch the lights and even form crowds. I pushed it harder than it was supposed to be pushed as I had about 15,000 standard lights on it and had to run about 25 extention cords but it was a lot of lights! Never had any issues and was able to change the channels around by switching extension cords to make it look like it really was a computerized production. Music sounded pretty good and clear aslo for such a simple design. Music level is also adjustable by potentiometer/ a dial so you don't have to have it annoying the neighbors. I sold my one from last year to buy the wireless and was very disappointed in the unit so I just purchased another one of these. If you really want to go all out without breaking the bank, this is the way to go!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by TheGriswoldsofAubrey Great while it worked
This item was awesome for the full two weeks that it worked. The music was great as was the light show. However, suddenly the music has begun to play so low you have to be standing with your ear to box to hear it even the volume is up to max. Very disappointed. It is under warranty but we are concerned that we will not receive the replacement unit before the season is over.

No problems with the unit the first season. But this year it won't play music. The manual said replace the fuse, but my unit doesn't have a replaceable fuse. Mr. Christmas support says it was a printing error and or an old manual was included with my unit. 90 day warranty should tell you something.
