Can some of the rocks be removed without altering the integrity of the product?

It says that it is 8 inches wide, but I only have 6 inches to work with in between concrete pads. Can I remove some of the rocks without ruining the mesh? Thoughts?
Asked by: Zee123
these are not rocks, but soft styrofoam products.

Will roots penetrate this? I want to dig a french drain into a dry well, pretty close to a big tree in my front yard. I imagine I will have to deal with big roots.
Asked by: BarnacleBill
Root intrusion should be no more of a significant factor than in any other type of drainage system. The same "best design practices" should be employed for EZdrain that are applied on other types of drainage systems. If roots are a concern then commercially available root inhibitors are available (by others).

I purchased these french drains with attached filter materials to reduce the labor involved with transporting drain rock down four stories to my backyard where I was building retaining walls. This I was thankful for. The problem - the outside diameter was too small to mate with standard couplers ! Thought about returning them but it was too late project wise. I had to go to three different hardware stores until I found a universal coupler for 3 or 4 in that coupled internally with these french drains. I had used the 3 in french drains previously wtihout coupling issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved our shoe investment! Rainy season had brought 2 inches of water in front of our condo until I found this product and installed a 5 foot section in the flower bed next to the concrete slab, Now my wife can walk across the front entry without getting her nice shoes all wet. Worth every penny, but ask me again in 100 Years!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from EZ French Drain Pipe is light and easy to install but I would recommend putting 3/4" gravel around the pipe, even though direction say you don't have to. I installed this on a hill with a lot of run off. The soil washed out, exposing the pipe. I then put stone around the pipe and re buried it. No problems since. I would recommend buying the regular pipe without the foam pellets wrapped around it.
