Will it seal a leaking water hose

Asked by: Doc
The metal tape is flexible enough to apply to a fixed item like insulation but where you have regular flexing (water hose) I would look for another solution. Cutting the defective hose and installing a water tight link is the best approach. Personally, I have not experienced a good hose repair using "water proof tapes." I try to inspect my lawn tools during the spring season or at least prior to summer use and then watch the adds - most lawn and garden stores have fairly regular sales on water hoses. Good luck to you.

HD does not carry hi temp caulk in the store. Can this be used to seal gaps where gas hot water heater flue goes into hole in chimney?

I have not attempted to use metal tape to mend wet surfaces. Its design doesn't seem to support that application - check with your salesperson for specific answers. Sorry I can't provide a more specific response.

In a pinch can i use this tape (555) to seal gaps in my gas furnace?

Asked by: Max
No, do not buy this. This is a cheap plastic tape, it separates from the glue layer. Buy a metal foil duct tape instead, it's much much better.

1.89 in. x 120.3 yd. 555 FlexFix UL Listed Tape is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful quality I purchased two rolls of this tape and both rolls are unusable. I literally took one roll out of its plastic wrapper and the backing peeled right off the tape. The tape actually stuck to itself like it was melted together. I used about three yards off the other roll and just chalked the first one up to a bad roll. Then it started doing the same thing. Out of anger/frustration I must have wasted another 1/4 of the roll trying to get it to work properly. Now I have $25 of worthless tape. I'm ticked to say the least, now I'll have to go buy more of another brand and hope it works.

I bought this tape to use instead of a metal/foil duct tape that I was happy with but it was more expensive. This looked like a much larger roll at a bit lesser price. I made a mistake. This tape is a cheap plastic, not foil. It tears all the time when you unwind it, occasionally metallic layer separates from plastic.I would not use it on a hot ducts. So now I have a big roll of hardly usable tape.

Metal tape was used to reinforce and re-stretch falling heater wrap insulation. The product worked well though it is difficult to dispense properly. The tape comes off the roll easily enough BUT should you neglect to "TAB" the dispensing end it is all but impossible to find that ending on the roll! In as much as this was a home improvement project I neglected to purchase a dispensing case, that might have improved my results. All in all, I am happy with the tape and I do recommend it.

Very Effective Used this product to seal a dryer vent, and it seemed to work effectively. It is very sticky, and adhered well. It is advertised to withstand high temperatures, so should hold up better than common duct tape. It was easy to tear down to size but did not fall apart as it was applied.

Seems to make a good bond with the aluminum skin of the product and since its partially transparent you can see how well the seam is covered. Don't know if I would use where it is exposed to weather and sunlight as it's quite thin.

Cheap trash that is unusable after spending one season inside my air conditioned house. The roll of tape is stuck to itself and is unable to unravel as you would normally expect. I will now go out of my way to never buy a Nashua product again.
