Customer Questions & Answers

How suitable is this for electrical applications?

Is the surface of the tape conductive, or is it insulated with something like polyester film? Is the adhesive conductive?
Asked by: ECEguy
Surface is conductive, adhesive is non-conductive, it can be used to make a Farday's cage for shielding electronics from RF interference, such as lining the body cavities of an electric guitar to stop the 60 cycle RF hum . However, copper tape is still a better choice since all the seams can be easily soldered to ensure good continuity for proper conductivity between pieces.

Is this the right kind of tape to use on a dryer vent?

Asked by: Anonymous
I used this on my dryer vent 3 years ago and its still sealed like the first day even after the cat walked on it. It was easy to use and worked perfectly.

1.89 in. x 50 yd. 322 Multi-Purpose HVAC Foil Tape is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 248.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked better than expected I needed to reseal some ductwork that had come a bit loose from the ductwork flange it was supposed to be fastened to underneath my manufactured house. I wasn't sure what to do so I went to my local HD store to look around and see what they had and decided that this tape might be just what I needed. Well I was surprised just how easy this tape is to apply and it seemed to have a really good grip on both the metal and the plastic ductwork. The only issue I had with it was when I applied it and pulled hard on it the tape snapped apart. Didn't take but a quick second to realize this is a "foil" sealing tape not regular duct tape that most people use for binding stuff. So far so good!

I used this foil tape to tape seams in my sauna which I had lined with Reflectix bubble foil. The foil tape was easy to use, adheres well, and was sturdy enough for my needs. I ran out of the Nashua and tried to use 3M duct foil tape. It is far thicker and harder to work with. Probably good for ducting, but not for my application.

It sticks to the insulation wrap so well, unlike duct tape. I was able to wrap all my ductwork in a weekend and only used 2 rolls. Warning: wear light gloves or use a plastic spatula to rub it down onto the surface, to avoid paper cut-like, since the edges can be sharp. Price was also great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! Love It! The bulb in my fridge didn't come with a protective case around it, causing the bulb to scorch the "ceiling" of my fridge when I had left it open to clean out and wipe down the inside. I saw on Pintrest where someone else had the same problem and fixed it with this tape. I tried it and absolutely love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great....most of the time Tape works great. I have had a few rolls that seem to have had an issue at the manufacturer. There's small lines going through the tape which look horrible when you're taping something that's out in plain sight and visible. I usually unroll until I get to a good spot and then continue taping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it does the job It's tape, but a different. It seems to have great sealing ability and because it's designed to be used on metal surfaces along with clamps I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was really sticky and worked very well. It's an additional barrier for air escape with dryer vent hookups.

Once you find the tape's starting place, roll out whatever length you need and while cutting it from the roll, keep your thumb & finger next to the roll while cutting it: otherwise, if it attaches back again to the roll, you have a dickens of a time finding tape's starting place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This tape works I have an older home and the heating and A/C unit has not been replaced. After a recent tune up I noticed the unit had some air leaks and needed to be resealed. I removed the old tape and this tape went on easy and stayed in place. I have no more air leaks and it looks good.
