Can this be used to fix a crack in sprinkler line?

Asked by: Joe
I have used mine on both pvc sprinkler and low-flow lines. You just gotta stretch the tape to 2-3 times the length before you let it touch back down on itself. That provides the pressure and the stick-to-itself. I always feel like it's going to break, but it the more it stretches, the better it works. Good luck!

How much vacuum pressure can it withstand before being sucked into a 2" pipe?

Asked by: Ace
Thank you for your question. Stretch & Seal is designed to provide an exterior wrap that can seal against air and water leakage. Assuming that you are trying to seal a seam or pin hole, properly installed we would not expect the tape to be "sucked in" however, if trying to seal a larger hole or gap, additional wraps and being sure to seal adequately both above and below the gap would be recommended. Best of luck with your project.

HARD TO WORK WITH, DOESN'T LIKE TO GO IN TO TIGHT SPOTS WITHOUT STICKING TO ITSELF. USED WHOLE ROLL ON I/2" PVC PIPE THAT HAD A "NO PRESSURE" SMALL DRIP AND I DID FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. I HAVE USED ELECTRICAL TAPE, DUCT TAPE, AND THE ONE THAT GETS MOST PEOPLE ~ TEFLON TAPE. I WAS AN H.V.A.C. TECHNICIAN FOR 30 YEARS AND HAVE SOLDERED, BRAZED, AND WRAPPED SMALL COMPRESSION FITTINGS WITH TEFLON TAPE AT LEAST 10,000 TIMES, SO I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO USE THIS WITH EASE, BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. FIND ANOTHER PRODUCT AND LET ME KNOW WHAT IT IS. I AM ONLY OUT $7.00, SO I WON'T LOSE ANY SLEEP. BUT IF YOU DECIDE TO BUY IT...... GOOD LUCK!

The trick to this is to stretch it REALLY well before having it adhere to itself. simply rolling it on will waste time and money. I have used this on several "oops" and leaks with the low pressure water system, pvc pipe, and copper pipe over the last few years. In tight places, I had to use a chopstick to hold it out far enough in the back to not "touchdown" too quickly, but with enough stretch, this stuff is awesome. As an added bonus, the more you stretch it, the longer your 3.33 yards will seem!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did Not Work As Advertised Unfortunately, the tape simply formed a large water bubble on the water line where the hose was cracked. Ended up having to replace the hose. Never look for the easy way out.

The first time was to repair a non-pressure drain line. The pipe is an old lead pipe connecting two copper pipes. The lead had split about 1/4" and the tape made a permanent repair. The second application was not as successful. My pressured discharge line on my RV sprung a pin hole leak. I put two wraps and it held fro about one minute. It all fairness I should have reapplied additional wraps but it is a warranty application so I will just have it replaced. It seems like a good product and I will purchase it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Holds well but a bit tricky Since you gotta peel off the cellophane lining to expose the tape while wrapping (and stretching at the same time) the tape around the pipe, it is best that you have ample room all around around the pipe to maneuver the roll of tape around the pipe. If not, good luck! If there is insufficient room, the tape will tend to twist and stick to itself before you have a chance to stretch/wrap around the pipe. Once I did get the tape around the pipe (it is an ABS drain pipe with little water pressure to get in the way), the tape seemed to provide excellent grip around the pipe. After a few weeks so far, no leaks are visible. Spending 7 bucks on this tape sure beats paying a plumber a couple hundred bucks just to stop a slow leak. I would recommend this tape if you have a slow drain pipe leak.

Instead of calling a plumber my husband decided to try this tape and it worked great!! Followed the instructions exact and haven't had any leaks so far. Everything is still dry Although he did used two rolls of tape just to be sure and to also cover the area beyond the actual leak. Would recommend. Great temporary fix.
