"if your lighter socket turns off when the car is off it will not charge your batteries"; Is there a way around that? would it require professional rewiring?
Asked by: karena
The question asked was how to get around the problem of the lighter socket turning off when the car is off. The Nature Expert answer does not seem to answer to the question asked, unless the alligator clips are supposed to be used instead of the lighter socket. If the solution actually is to use the alligator clips with wiring INSTEAD of the lighter socket, then the question is how do you get the wires from the solar panel inside the passenger compartment thru to the battery under the hood?

is the 2 watt solar panel enough to power a portable 12v fan

Asked by: mike
The 2 watt solar panel would be great to power portable items such as portable fans. Please keep in mind our trickle charger would be meant to maintain the battery in which the fan will pull power from.

Customer Reviews

2-Watt Amorphous Solar Powered 12-Volt Battery Maintainer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as stated. I did not receive the 3 watt panel that I ordered because it was out of stock and they sent me a 7 watt panel instead as a replacement. On a bright and sunny day it put out 20 volts at 140 ma. When it was very cloudy the voltage dropped to 18 volts and it still charged at 7 ma. I have two complaints about the panel. The first is that the wire to connect to the battery was only 6 feet long and there was no way to extend it without cutting it. The second problem was the mounting hardware. Yes they send mounting hardware with it but there is no instructions on how to mount it and I could not figure it out. My brother purchased a different panel and they sent him the same hardware and he could not figure it out either. We both had to make our own mounting assemblies.
