Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lazer Excellent addition to my big yard.
I had a handyman install the pergola in my backyard. Pavers were also laid on the ground. As mentioned in the instruction, the treated woods are essential for installation which you buy separately. The wood was laid on top of a cemented structure on the ground to add stability, instead of just burying the wood. You cannot do away with the brackets and should be part of the kit. The wood can only be extended only to the part where the posts meet the horizontal columns. So, there will be a slight shakiness on the top columns. I am not sure if this will hold with a heavy windstorm. Overall, it looked pretty.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by rick This productas everyting as advertised. I was very pleased with the qualiy and written installstion instructions.
The quality of the product was as expected. The installation instruction were easy to follow. My son and myself installed the 12x12 pergola in 3 days. The first day was used to dig corner post and install in cement. The next day we work a fairly easy pace to install the framework and the 3rd day we installed the final framework. The majority of the time is taken up installing all the screws, which are need to ensure the pergola is secure. We have had quite parties under our new pergola and receive compliments all the time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Damon Great Value on a Great looking Pergola
Pergola was 20% off which was a great deal, so I ordered one. Arrived quickly in six boxes. All set to install on concrete patio, to block out some of the blazing California Sun. Required drilling anchor bolts in to concrete. I had never drilled concrete before, hope to never again, but with a new hammer drill from Home Depot and lots and lots of drill bits and sweat. Final after several hours we were able to get usable holes. then the Pergola went up very easy and quick. LOOKS GREAT. And now my patio has shade.

Did not see in any review that you will have to purchase 8 loading beams to slip into the white vinyl beams. Also if directions where followed in order o n e could not slip the beams thru the holes. Lastly you will also need a drill as the holes were not pre drilled.
It was a little harder to put up than anticipated because of the above BUT it looks great and i will buy another one in the spring.

We received the pergola even faster than I expected. It is a good, solid construction and well worth the money. I am looking forward to sitting outside under my pergola on hot summer nights.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kmmatney Very nice - but can be hard to install over an elevated deck
This pergola looks great, but I found the installation to be a bit tricky, much of that due to the fact that I installed it myself, on an elevated outdoor deck, that wasn't quite level where the posts go. Although this is a stand-alone pergola, mine came with the hardware to mount it directly against the house, so that what I did. Once all the shade rafters are in place, the entire unit is quite sturdy. It doesn't procide a lot of shade as-sis, but you can order a cloth weave, or extra shade rafters to give more shade. OI ended up ordering extra shade rafters, since I wanted more shade and low maintenance. Overall I'm happy with the Pergola, and used the 2 posts as the anchors for matching vinyl railings.
To install by myself, I used a multi-function ladder to hold the ends of the long rafters at roughly the correct level so I could lift up the other end and get the screws in place. The hardest part of doing it by myself was just trying to keep the column posts level while I secured them. I was also not able to get the 2 vertical support beams in place, since installing against the house let no room to get the piece through, and I would have had to get the wood 20 feet off the ground to slide it through the other direction. To solve this, I cut vertical slats into the column, so I could lower the beams in place from above. This worked perfectly, and didn't compromise the strength of the structure.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LadyMacbeth Super and lovely pergola
This pergola is good value for the price, like the first reviewer wrote, its very sturdy if you add wood posts inside the pergola columns and add concrete to the base for added support (see instruction manual). For added shade you can add screens to the top. We love it as it adds a nice addition to the backyard, better than a wood pergola as its made of vinyl and won't rot or fade :)
