Answer:
It has a button below the timer. That button activates the "clean cycle". The manual advises to clean the unit with half vinegar and half water on the clean cycle. Drain the vinegar water from the unit when the clean cycle is finished and flush it again with plain water and drain to avoid a vinegar taste in your ice.
This procedure is in the Owner's Manual also.

It makes cloudy ice. No matter how pure your water is. They make units that make clear ice, but this is not one of them.

Answer:
No! Please do not try to freeze any liquid except water in this icemaker or you could cause damage to the parts. The manual advises against that. It is not a cooler. I would not recommend anything larger than a 12 fl. oz. can in it for a short time period.

Answer:
I don't know how you would manage freezing a bottle of vodka, other than pouring it into the unit and having it make little "vodka cubes". (The ice stored in it isn't cold enough to freeze much of anything…as it just barely stays frozen by itself.) As fast as this unit works, I rather doubt that it would actually FREEZE the vodka. It would CHILL it, though!

Unfortunately, there is no room for a vodka bottle to be stored in the ice basket. If the sensor notices the ice basket is full or heavy then it will not proceed with producing ice.

Answer:
I'm just guessing, but I would imagine that it holds about 2 lbs. of ice. The "50 lb." figure refers to how much ice it can make in a 24 hour period. If you want to have a lot of ice on hand, you'll have to buy a YETI cooler or store it in the freezer in your basement...

3 to 5 pounds at the most. To get a large quantity, you would have to dump the into something else every few minutes. I bought mine because so many people gave it good reviews. I do not understand why. It s not that great and it is extremely heavy. It is not very portable at all

Answer:
The unit has a drain on the side to empty water that will not be used. Melted ice will fall back into the reservoir and automatically be recycled into ice again unless the unit is cut off or very low on water. Do not let it run on very low water levels to avoid damage to the unit.

50 lb. Freestanding Ice Maker in Stainless Steel is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 120.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a Great Product I use this all the time. I drink a lot and it all has ice in it. Also great if you need ice bags, or ice when cooking. The ice is just there all the time and I don't have to empty ice cube trays. I received it for Christmas and when it quite working the office was great about helping me in getting it fixed and there communication was really great. I couldn't ask for anything better. Thank you all I was lost while it was being fixed.

The first unit they sent me was Dead on Arrival and wouldn't produce ice at all. I returned it to the store and went ahead and ordered a second one thinking that the issues with the first were a fluke. The second unit set ups and gives an error right off the bat. I restart the unit, it produces one batch of ice and guess what? Another, error and yep, yet again another dead unit. Worse purchase ever, now I have to drive back to Home Depot and return yet another one of these ice makers. Great job QA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Hot Weather Necessity It weighs about 46 pounds and takes 2 people to transport it safely on a hand truck from vehicle to door. It is easy to follow the instuctions and works as they say it does. It can supply 2 to 6 people with all the ice for cold beverages they could possibly need in a day. It does not require a water connection but I strongly advise ice maker users not to let your ice maker run on an empty reservoir. I am pleased with my New Air Icemaker as of this date and have owned it for over one month. I hope it will hold up for 5 years or more at the selling price I paid. I think it is worth the money I spent because of the ease of use and the volume of ice it puts out. In addition, the company customer service department is responsive to customer calls and does provide caring support to verified purchasers of this product. They seem reliable.

I will likely make something to attach to the drain plug to ease cleaning process. It is easy to soak up excess water in reservoir with small towel. No more yelling at the kids to fill ice trays. Very easy to use - fast. I bought two smaller models other family members. No more waiting in line for ice during hurricane season.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointment After so many stellar reviews, I was hoping for a long life for this machine. It lasted about 6 months and has died. Warranty is only 90 days, so too bad for me. For 6 months it did a fine job of cranking out medium hollow bullet cubes on a regular basis and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I payed $279.00 on a base of $250.00 with taxes and free shipping which was prompt. Also I got the AR 215R (for red).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Stand Alone Unit! The Unit was exactly as advertised, dumps ice every 7 minutes, the quality of the unit is outstanding, the unit is easy to clean and maintain. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who does not want to run a water line. It would also make a GREAT bar top unit!

Great idea but the maximum time that you can set it ahead is like 6 hours. Therefore, you can't really set it over night, which sucks. Other than that, it's really good and pounds out the ice!
