Customer Reviews

1 gal. Water-Based Tabitha Gray Infrared Reflective Wood Stain is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as advertised I bought this stain for a desk made out of birch. I really liked the "semi-transparent" grey shown in the photos of the product. This stain does NOT produce that color. When you add water to the stain to achieve "semi-transparent", you get a lighter, milkier version of the "solid". The workshop that made and stained the desk had to add black stain to this product to achieve the "semi-transparent" look in the photo. I discovered this because I had to patch an area on the desk and was trying to match the color. I mixed the stain, as per the directions for "semi-transparent", with 3 different amounts of water. In each case I applied 3 coats of stain to my sample piece of birch, and it NEVER achieved anything close to the darker gray striping. I called the workshop to ask what their stain to water ratio was and that's when they told me they had to add black to achieve the color I had requested. Very disappointing.
