Can this be applied onto already colored pavers? I'm thinking of buying red 12" x 12" pavers and then applying this colorant to give them a more 'antique' look. I imagine I would have to premix this with water, and maybe some vinegar, and apply with a brush. Think it will stick to the pavers?

How much do I need to add per each 80lb bags of cement?

Asked by: Anthony
Unfortunately, there is no "exact" amount as it depends on the color strength you are trying to achieve. Adding the 1lb package to a 60lb bag will have a darker color outcome than if it was added to an 80 or 90lb bag. You can add up to 7lbs of color to one 90lb bag of concrete, or up to 5lbs per 90 lb bag of mortar. If you are trying to get a darker color, you will need at least (1) package in each 60lb bag. SIDE NOTE: When first mixed, the color will appear MUCH darker than the final outcome as it will lighten as it dries (just like about almost everything that gets wet). If you read the reviews on all the products like this, 99% of all the problems you saw are due to not enough color being used. So when in doubt, use more, rather than less, but just don't exceed the maximum amount. Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Color, But Use More! When ever using concrete color I always use double the suggested amount, never more than the max allowed. After mixing, the color appears MUCH darker than the finished product, but once it dries, the color lightens up quite a bit. A common issue DIYers have is they add just enough color to match the color they want. The problem is once it dries, the color lightens up dramatically, so it appears washed out or really faded. If you hosed down a typical gray concert slab it would go from light gray to dark gray once the water soaked in, which is a huge change in the color. So make sure you add enough color to darken it, so when it dries you will end up with the color you want. Side Note / Example: I saw a review where someone had added a half bottle of black to a 90lb bag, and they were upset that the final color was not a true black?!?!?!? it would probably take 4 bottles to even get it close. I ended up using (3) bottles of this for each 90lb bag of concrete and it came out perfect. Use as little water as you can, use the exact same amount of water for each bag, and be VERY careful if you are mist curing the concrete as that added water will have an effect on the color. BUT this is true of every manufacturer. New Look also sells a stain in the same colors as the integral colors which works great for "refreshing" the Color or if you did not use enough color initially, the stain will fix that. Great Product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great. This product mixes and colors well. I didn't measure it out as I am trying to have varying colors throughout my pathway so that made it easier as nothing has to match. I am very happy with the results.
