Answer:
The light is not coming on when you test it because there is some light being picked up by the photo eye. The best way to test your photocell during the day would be to cover the sensor with black electrical tape.

Answer:
Good Morning,
This product is to be connected to a 120 volt, 60Hz power source. Connecting to a different power source or wired incorrectly may create a hazard, damage the unit, and will void the warranty.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't last. Didn't last two years. Maybe two years is good for some people, but not for me. I expected more. July 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to Install Product easy to install. Directions easy to understand. July 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by An indoor photo eye I originally installed one of these in place of a wall switch to light our stairwell theater lamps at night and turn off during the day. It worked well for approximately 3 1/2 years. I then noticed that the lights were staying on continuously and causing the three 7 watt bulbs to burn out rather quickly. I recently replaced the photo eye and we are back up and running. I'm not sure what the life expectancy is on these but hopefully this one will last at least as long or longer. May 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well The sensor installed easily, the instructional diagrams were well written. Recommended. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great addition This was easy to install and it sure makes a difference in the lighting at night. I don't have to remember to turn it on or off. January 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad out of the package Did not work from store. Returning it ASAP. Will try another one January 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It Works The photo eye works to turn on my outdoor lights at dusk and turn them off a sunrise, time will tell how long it will last, I hope longer then the one it replaced. December 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible Product This product required a lot of tight maneuvering for the install but once it was in, it worked great... FOR THREE DAYS. Then the unit failed and required me to purchase a new sensor (not from the same manufacturer) and go through the entire install again. I'm happy to say the new sensor has worked perfectly for the past week... Home Depot needs to find a new supplier for these sensors, possibly one not in Southeast Asia. September 2, 2015
