You can tell by the price that this grill is not going to last forever. How long do you think it will last before the heat gets the best of the SS and rusts it out?

I'll answer my own question. After seeing all the bad reviews especially the rust problems, there's no way I would spend more than 269.00 on it

Purchased this grill because of the infrared feature and stainless steel construction. Did my own assembly which was fast and easy because of excellent instructions. Only needed a phillips head screwdriver. I grilled some hamburger patties and steaks which came out perfectly cooked. Cooking took only a short time. I went online and purchased a rotisserie which I am using to grill some chicken pieces. Overall the construction was well thought out with a rugged base unit. I am well pleased. The only thing missing was a grill tool to remove the plates and grill. I hope this will be added by Nexgrill soon.

This thing is heavy so I strongly recommend assembling it where you plan to use it. Always used a Weber charcoal grill so this is a new experience. The temperature gauge exceeds the units capability by a fair amount. I haven't been able to get it to go above 700 degrees and even then it doesn't sear or cook with the same intensity I'm used to with charcoal. On the upside it's cleaner so no more smoke in your eyes and it's ready to cook a lot faster than my old Weber kettle. There's also a lot more surface area and the side burner is very useful. It's still early but right now this looks like a keeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've owned my Nexgrill for about 6 months and use it weekly. I looked at many, many grills some c... I've owned my Nexgrill for about 6 months and use it weekly. I looked at many, many grills some costing as much as $2,000. I opted for this Nexgrill because it has a ton of bells and whistles for the price which have allowed me to have fun experimenting with lots of different types of meats and cuts. The cheaper price also allowed me to purchase accessories like the rotisserie, rib rack and instant read thermometer. My results have been pretty darn good. I've smoked two $70 rib roasts for family occasions and was told it was the best roast they've ever had. That's coming from my 70 yr old mom who is one of the best cooks I've ever known. The fact is, no matter how good a chef you are, you need to really research grilling techniques and get to know your grill's strengths and weaknesses. Some of the top award wining BBQ guys smoke and grill in 50 gal drums and other home made smokers. Sure, this grill has some shortcomings - no doubt, but it gives you enough control to grill/smoke perfectly if you want to "up" your grilling game. The stainless steel is definitely on the flimsy side, not as solid as my friend's Weber Genesis for $800, but there's still no rust on my grill out here in Colorado. Maybe that's a different story in the salty air on the coast. Make sure your grill cover is vented so it dries after snow and rain and doesn't hold in moisture. Hot Spots? Flare Ups? Every grill has hot spots and flare ups - you need to scrape all of the grease and left over sauces into the bottom grease collector before you throw on a nice piece of meat. If you don't clean your grill often, no matter how fancy it is, you'll definitely have flare ups. It's true, the "infrared" is not a true infrared system, but the searing plates definitely help evenly distribute the heat and catch drippings to some degree - if placed under the grates - further reducing flare-ups. I sear over the open flame mostly, but haven't had any problem with the searing plates getting hot when needed. I don't turn them upside down to hold smoking chips because they are pretty shallow. Instead, I set a loaf pan, which is about 4" deep, directly on the burner covers and put my chunks of wood in there - chunks work better anyway and are longer lasting than chips. Yes, the inside of my grill is black and discolored, the searing plates might be a little warped too, but really who cares? Any well-used grill is going to discolor on the inside. Complaining about that issue is kinda like complaining about your car engine looking black and greasy even if it's running tip top. One issue I've had that I didn't see mentioned is that the temperature gauge is definitely off by about 75 degrees. After some research it seems most grills, even higher end models, show incorrect temp readings. The first thing I did when I got "serious" about grilling is I invested in a really good instant read thermometer - best grilling idea I've had yet and well worth the $100. My chicken, steaks, ribs and roasts all come out at the perfect temperature and it takes out all of the guesswork. I've seen complaints about the grill not getting hot enough, but I've had absolutely no problem with this, however most of the grilling I do is with smoke and "low and slow" as they say. One thing to check is which fuel "orifices" you have installed in the end of the burners. When I switched my grill to natural gas, I also had to switch out the orifices - both are included with your grill, and if you have installed the wrong ones - both sizes look about the same, then your grill may not heat up correctly for the fuel you're using. By the way, the NG conversion kit was much more difficult than I expected. I'm pretty good with tools as a general contractor and the conversion took me almost 2 hours due to poor instructions and some difficult parts I had to tinker with. However, in the end the grill fires up perfectly and the flame levels are pretty easy to control. The bottom line is, you can buy the most expensive grill on the market but if you don't invest the time to raise your grilling game to the next level then you won't be satisfied. This is kinda like that fancy mountain bike I bought for myself when I moved to Colorado last year - to use an analogy. Nice bike, but I've ridden it twice. I'm sure a kid with half the bike and twice my skill would out ride me any day. In wrapping this review up... let me just say that some day I'll buy a $2,000 grill, but for now while I'm learning the ropes, this is a super cost effective grill for all of the options it gives you and I couldn't be more pleased with it. Some of the complaints are pretty silly in my opinion and if you're not gonna be invested in your grilling skills, a fancy grill isn't going to help.

On Easter week end our family got together and the weather was nice. We decided a day to BBQ. I cooked 7 Rib Eye Steaks, 4 hotdogs, and a bunch of Asparagus on the grill and put 2 loaves of garlic bread on the upper grill. If was the first time I used it and everything turned out perfect. I have used it 3 times since then and we love it. Easy to start like a cook stove in the kitchen. Quiet running and no flare ups. I read good and bad reports on it before the purchase and I will scratch out the bad ones and side with the good ones. For the price it is worth it.

Heated up real fast, have only cooked a couple of burgers so far, but looking good. I would reiterate the comment about a tool to remove the infared plates. I left them all in to cook off the shipping oil and it was a chore moving one to cook the burgers,

It took a little while, because there were quite a few pieces, but overall the instructions were clear and logical. The assembly was easy enough! After assembly, it works great! Plenty of burners, so it's easy to regulate the temperature where you want it. The ability to flip the grates and infra-red pans around gives so much flexibility,. Throw steaks on the rods. Flip everything and put veggies or fish on the pans! I leave mine just set up for 60% grill and 40% pan. With the pans under the grills, flare-ups don't seem to be an issue anymore. Best of all is after your done. No more just burning off the grill and scraping on the residue for me! The grill is in three easy-to-handle sections that fit in the kitchen sink nicely. Take a scouring pad to the grill components, and in just a few minutes everything looks practically new again. Considering the overall quality, I expect to be enjoying this grill for years to come!

Notables are thin sheet metal and frame construction. If your looking for a 10 year grill and cook on it nearly everyday. This is NOT it. It's a good grill for the money therefore provided the value that I was looking for in a grill. It should last 5 years with the amount of grilling I do under a cover while not using. Summer time every weekend in the mid-west and occasional winter weekend cooking. My last grill had very similar construction and lasted 6 years, had to replace burner tents and grates. And was barely good enough to give to a buddy that just bought his first house and needed a whatever grill.

There is corrosion all over the main burner, igniters, flame tamers and grill plates. The infrared plates are rusted and generate a bad taste on any meat. This grill has the lowest grade of stainless steel on any grill I have ever had before. I have spent over a week speaking to Nexgrill customer service and technical support. they couldn't locate the model, one of them told me it was under warranty but before I was able to complete the order the call kept on getting disconnected. The next representative told me it was a "cosmetic" issue and out of warranty. I have a cover and i clean the grill after and before each use with proper products. Please do not buy this product. It looks great for the price, but it will not last.
