Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 12 IN. Nickolson File - For Mower Blade Sharpening The file was excellent quality, I used it to sharpen my Lawn Boy mower blade. I used it with "Nicholson5 in. Plastic Universal File Handle", and it took out deep nicks in the blade from rocks in the yard, and I got it down to a smooth edge at 45 degrees without much effort. I would recommend this file along with the handle to anyone with an application for a good quality file. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A very good file for mower blades The file was very sharp and gave a sharp edge on the mower blade. I recommend this file. August 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sharpen your card shapers I bought half a dozen Nicholson files from Home Depot last summer. I use this one for general smoothing and shaping. Its a comfortable size for cleaning up scrapers. Don't try to use them bare, you'll stab yourself in the palm with the tang (just trust me on this OK?) Either buy the cheap plastic handles, or make your own. I turned a few by chucking up a blank in my little drill press and pretending it was a lathe, and that works well. Then when i had access to a lathe again, I had more fun turning handles on the lathe and using bits of salvaged copper water pipe for ferrules. Buy a file card, or at least a fine brass brush so you can keep them clean. May 14, 2016
