Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cranerat LED replacement Kit for Mini-Mag
Easy to install except for fitting the bulb into the barrel of the old Mini-Mag. Not sure if mine is just old or thay will all have the difficulty of inserting the LED wires into the pin-holes.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Donnie Great fix for a good but dim flashlight
I have been looking for a LED fix for my flashlight, but the products I had seen were too expensive and wasn't sure of the brightness. This one was very affordable and is the right brighness. So far the batteries are lasting longer too.

This made a terrific increase in the amount of light. The color is much more like sunlight. It still focuses the beam. I really like the switch on the end cap which allows turning the light on with one hand. It is very easy to install.

The light is a lot brighter than your regular mag light. The little back button is not needed. I always ended up accidentally turning the light on when I sat.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WildBill Works as advertized even in Lamp mode
If you follow the directions replacement is easy. Do NOT remove the black disk from the original MagLite that is used to turn on and off. Didn't install the included switch since I wanted to retain the Lamp Mode. If you look at the diagram it has the DO NOT slash through a picture of removing the disk. I think the reviewers that had issues with springs coming out and ruined flashlights pried that off.
If it doesn't work remove it and rotate it so the pins go into the opposite holes. LED stands for Light Emitting DIODE (i.e., device to allow electricity to flow in only one direction).
Focus is at least as good original bulb. Light is quite a bit brighter. Easily the claimed 30 Lumens. It works with both Alkaline and NMHi batteries. Don't know about the run time, but with some old dual AA Solar Lights should provide continuous light in an emergency.

had issues with flashlight. changed batteries. no change. decided if bulb was bad might just as well make the upgrade... used the kit... still no illumination. changed the batteries yet again.. no change...double checked both sets of batteries with multi meter.. they are good. don't know if I got a bad kit or if there is something else wrong with flashlight.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ajouseko Ruined my MagLite
Buyers should be warned that unless they risk ruining their Maglite in an attempt to upgrade it using this kit. The instructions are very poor, and do not mention that the chuck which holds the bulb in place contains very small electrical contacts which are held together very loosely. In order to make this upgrade, the buyer is required to disassemble parts which are not intended to be user serviceable. Unless they buyer is experienced with disassembling the Maglite, the upgrade should not be attempted. In my case, the small parts fell out of the tube and were lost, rendering my Maglite useless. I am returning the upgrade kit to the store.
Is Home Depot aware that they carry a product which requires their customers to ignore "do not open, no user serviceable parts inside" warnings?

I'm very happy. These are much brighter than the factory bulbs. I would say twice as much. Be sure to read the instructions. The bulb has specific polarity so don't panic if it doesn't work the first time, just reverse the bulb.
