Customer Questions & Answers

air cooled?

Asked by: gary
The compressor probably has a fan that blow air over it. Download the Care PDF manual on the webpage, there is probably an exploded view of the compressor. The last one of these I worked on had NO fan but was air cooled by vents in the front and back. Much Like a residential refrigerator.

does this product require a drain

Asked by: Taylor
Yes, you need a drain, this is not like the icemaker in your residential refrigerator. This requires a drain with a pump. This is NOT clear so beware, the ice flow over the plate where it freezes, the ice drops down into a bin. The water then flows down over the ice into a trough is reused. This unit is for a business that uses ice on a continuous basis. The ice that's in the bin slowly melts and is pumped away. It's a real expensive water user unless you use a lot of ice daily like a restaurant.

44 lb. Commercial Ice Maker in Stainless Steel is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fits our need The ice maker fits our need for now. The description gives a bin size of 25lb. I would say it has a size of 12 or 15 lbs. The way the ice is dropped into the bin will make the ice production stop early. You have to knock it off the level on a regular basis. Very easy to install and switching the door swing to the other side was no problem. Make sure you have a drain for it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not have a Drain Pump Be careful when you order this, it does not have a DRAIN PUMP, The specs. said it does, also 2 out of 3 people told me at Norpole it had drain pump. They do not know their product. Home depot had to get me a pump for this ice maker. Installed it, so far it is working, will keep you updated.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst ice machine We had this ice maker for 9 months and it stopped making ice. Contacted the manufacturer and they sent out a repair man who replaced the condenser and evaporator. It worked for another 3 months and then broke down again. I called the manufacturer and argued that it was defective. They finally agreed to a "cut cord refund" where by I cut the electrical cord and sent them a picture and they then refunded my money. That is the only good thing I would say is that the manufacturer was fair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This ice maker does everything I wanted and hoped it would do. I was replacing a 20 y/o ice maker that you could not find parts for anymore. This new one seems to produce ice faster and with less water than the old unit. It is in more of a 'free standing" position in my kitchen, being at the end of my bar, but I really don't think it is as loud as my old unit. The stainless steel is a nice upgrade, also. I have only had this unit about a month, but it all seems to be a good ice maker at an affordable price. It fit where my old one did and hooked up exactly the same way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Norpole ice maker We have had this ice maker for approx 2 months and we love it...we no longer have to buy bag ice to take to lake and camping...I installed myself and have had no problem...I generally bag my own 25lb bag every nite before bed...price was the main reason we went with this unit...we did buy the 5 year warranty as most ice makers do have problem...hope this helps you make your decision!! Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for value, but very loud I replaced a 10 year old ice maker with this unit. Produces ice quickly and a good size quality. If you make the ice more dense, then it becomes hard to break up when it comes off in sheets. Keep it on the medium setting and you'll be fine. The biggest problem is the unit is very loud during the compressor cycle. I've had mine for about 5 months and so so far so good. If I had to do it over, I would have chosen one that is more expensive that people rated as quiet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good product and good price We had been searching for an ice maker that was good quality with a good price. It was also easy to install and set up connections all matched the existing ice maker we took out. I appreciate Home Depot working with me to find the right ice maker for my location. The sales rep was very knowledgeable on this product thanks again for the great help
